I have a little update for you guys. Did a compression check because it didn't seem like the engine was 100% lately, I took the original engine out, found out I had a blown head gasket between cylinders 5 and 6 when tearing it down, not the worst I've seen but enough to make it feel like I had a slight misfire. Tops of the pistons, cylinder walls, and heads look great for not pulling any timing while still using the oem pcm while spraying a 200 shot lol.
Compared the cl vs mdx velocity stack length. Sending my clutch out to clutch masters to make a custom disc, replace the steel plate on the flywheel, and resurface the pressure plate so everything is fresh while it's out. Also sending my cams to gude performance to get re ground. Ordering arp head studs part number 208-4307 if anyone needs them too. Last but not least ordering supertech valve springs and retainers. That should get the ball rolling again. I've procrastinated long enough haha.
Don't mind how dirty the car is, I haven't washed it in months.

The exhaust is so proper , and well done . It makes oem exhaust looks like it was put together out of scrap steal.
Wow, so much of the engine bay is still in tact . How long would you say it took to pull the engine ?

I'm also going to use different mufflers. I don't like the way my comptechs sound at a certain rpm because they aren't a true muffler with baffles. They are a straight thru design so that makes them a little raspy. They sound very deep at idle since I have two vibrant ultra quite resonators but I just want a different tone and real mufflers even if it hurts the performance slightly. I'm not 100% what brand yet but I do know for sure I'm going to do quad tips. I think it will fit the oval cutout of the rear bumper better.

Dual tips won't fit the cutout unless you enlarge the cutout or use like dual 2" tips.
You haven't measured it have you.
Top of the cutout is like 4" and at the botom is 7".
Any nice size dual tips would sit below the cutout or leave a big space above just barley in the cutout not looking good, I considered it before but was not interested in cutting the bumper to fit some fatties in there.
Cut the bumper and fit them nicely
Was that room a paint both at one time?
The wall lights look like it.

A little update for you guys. I ordered arp head stud kit, oem head gaskets, and sent back my whole clutch kit to clutchmasters. They are going to make a custom disc, replace the steel plate on the flywheel while it's out, and resurface the pressure plate. Hopefully they can fix the air gap problem when the clutch is disengaged so I can use the oem slave cylinder rod. That's pretty much it for now.

Another little update just waiting for my new clutch setup in the mail, having custom intake manifold flanges made, the arp head studs were delivered, bought a new honda throwout bearing and rear main seal. As for the heads I'm only going to have a very mild port and polish job done on them because I don't want to be mad if something broke in the shortblock and messed up a head. I'm not using oem lower runners it's going to have a completely custom intake manifold.

Another little update my new clutch setup came in the mail over the weekend. I decided to go 8 puck segmented ceramic on both sides of the disc, new steel plate installed on the flywheel, and new pressure plate. Clutchmasters hooked me up!!!
#497
The lift came with the house lol. as far as the clutch if you were to buy the same setup it would cost around $1,200 give or take some depending who you purchase it from. The 8 puck design is supposed to be more street able compared to a 6 or 4 puck design. Hopefully it works out good for my setup.

Another little update I ordered a set of bc racing coilovers. The only bad part they were special order so it will take 2-3 weeks to arrive, doesn't really matter since the car isn't drivable lol. Once my cams come back I'll be able to assemble the engine and put it back in the car soon. I also think I found the new mufflers I'm going to use. They are magnaflow 14816's with dual tips. Hopefully they sound good and completely eliminate any rasp. I'm keeping both vibrant resonators installed so I'm sure it will have a very deep tone.

Nvm on those magnaflows they are the same straight thru design like my comptechs so that means it still would have some rasp lol. I need a real muffler, I'm open to suggestions...

I have never used them; however, they have a different flow pattern. Google them if the link fails.

A little update some more parts came in the mail. I also decided to get the whole car repainted while it's semi already apart and especially since the engine is out. I'm going to have a full respray with color change done including the engine bay and jams. Also bought new headlights again lol so I can have the bezels color matched. I can't decide on a color 100% yet but I'm leaning towards bmw sapphire black metallic. That's going to set back having the car finished soon but f it lol.
Dropped off the original engine at my friends shop rameybuilt to have the long tube headers started to get built. Once that's complete were going to start on the intake manifold.

Damn man your making me wish I hadn't stopped building my 3.5 swap. Defiantly one or the top CL builds Ive seen or heard about along with Civicdrivr, your Not to far from me I may try to come up that way with my guys from Greensboro NC and watch you run this summer. Im in the process of bumping my wet setup to 150 from 100, just wish my header was a flowing as yours, my start back on it now lol.

I had a question about your mufflers. Are they a straight thru design or actually baffled? I want to do quad tips mufflers also, I just have to find the right ones.

Single nozzle, haven't fully built the setup the right way yet.
They were baffled on a 3" true straight pipe with test pipe and DC header. The tips came on them and I cut 1.5" off one side of them. They were honestly ebay mufflers and I opened them up and took out the weak packing and added a heavier grade mesh and they should great for a 500$ header back system. Now I just have the OE header and test pipe with dyno-max VT muffler. Thinking of making a equal length header after the Nos system is done and done right. Love how you did the v-band.

I was launching right below or sometimes on the neutral rev limiter around 5.5-6k rpm I believe. Then once the car moved a little and I had the clutch all the way out I would spray it. It was a hit or miss if the stock clutch held when I was at the track. Yes stock axles too. I think my weak clutch is what saved them and I've inspected them and there isn't any signs of rust or play. Bias ply slicks are very forgiving too.

A little update I finally decided to fit nspecs old rear bumper and side skirts to see how I liked them actually on the car before I start the long and slow painting process. The back pump needs to be repaired in one spot and were going to mold the lip better so it matches the front perfectly. I also test fitted the rear section of my exhaust just to see how close it was to the lip. It's right up against it but that doesn't matter since I'm switching out the mufflers anyways.
After we start and finish the bodywork I'm having the front and rear glass removed. I'll remove mostly all the interior so it doesn't get messed up or dusty. While it's out I'm going to have the seats reupholstered in red leather and a few other things so it all matches.

Thanks, they will clear the actual mount but I'm going to need a custom bracket from the block to the mount. Also have to notch out the subframe and use slim fans. It will take some work to make them fit but it will be worth it!

Thanks for all the compliments guys! The credit goes to rameybuilt! After taking some measurements off my brothers car I think were going to switch up how the runners run under the oil pan. The best way would be to have them all three side by side flat. That way I would have the most ground clearance possible. I would probably be fine on slicks as is since the car sits so high when they are on. But I want to be able to lower the car more than I had it when I have street wheels/tires installed. I'll keep you guys updated.
Yes I'll have all the glass removed. Once it's out I'll try to give you a weight. It's going to be hard to balance it on the scale lol.
