Mod PICS: Vinyl around windows
Got the idea to get rid of that camry-style chrome strip around the windows by another thread here, and covered them up with some industrial striping vinyl from www.vinyldirect.com check out the album here for some inital pics as well as my previously cleared headlights....

I'll answer any questions concerning the install, not too bad and how to do it if you want the clean look

Yeah the pictures will improve, dirty car, shitty weather, but you can really see the strip blend well with the weatherstripping on the rear window, same reflectivity, and the company gives you enough to redo any areas of bubbles, etc. plenty of times...
mantis: the 150' roll or something like that was only 19.99 and all that was needed was some patience and a nice sharp exacto...don't go electrical, this vinyl is made for 7 year durability outside!
I would recommend this mod to anyone who has the tints, it really cleans up the car and I'll get some better pics later

mclaren: thjs stuff is made for billboards, outside of vehicles, etc, sticky as hell and durable, UV protected, etc...only problem is slight bubbling if you smooth carelessly, but a little practice and smoothes right on

Looks nice man. It would look weird on an '01 or '02 since our door handles are chrome. Looks good on yours though. You need some Zaino to get those swirl marks out of the paint. Next to black, red is the worst for swirl marks showing up.
Nice ride...

I want to get into Zaino, not to hijack this my own thread, but would you recommend the whole $100 package to include all the waxes/polishes/clay etc or just go light and get the wax and polish, haven't waxed for a year...need to get on that quick swirls are killin me

This is something i've been wanting to do since I first got the car (esp. when it was black). I've tried to have body shops paint it but none of them will cause they all say it'd just chip quickly. I've also wanted to do it around the grill, but that chips up fast. I thought about vinyl but never gave it a shot.
The new accords have a sticker/vinyl substance covering their window trim I just noticed a few months back. I've been meaning to go to a dealer and pic some up. But this vinyl treatment you did looks like the way to go.
That looks TITS bro!

okay, which tape did you order. How thick? Also, did the vinyl ripple up at all around bends? Is yours all one solid piece?

alright well here are the details:
.75" Avery Graphics A8 Striping vinyl
here is the address:
http://www.vinyldirect.com/vd.asp?P=1,K%20AV
it has been on now for about a month and looks great except for the fact that i haven't been able to figure out how to get it around the bend on the far edge of the window as one piece.
First of all, the 3/4" is just not thick enough to cover the amount of metal at the end of the window and it also won't make the turn but everything else is great, I think i will just try to use two pieces and try my damnest to get them to match up at the end...
if anyone else tries this, which they should (cheap and easy) and gets some ideas, shoot them my way...
perhaps get the 1" thick striping or thicker to cut out the first problem of not having it thick enough for the back of the window section..
and as far as installation: patience + a sharp knife to cut off excess to fit and there is a film of plastic that is a bitch to get off that covers the vinyl...but again, through rain everyday, holding up well this is definitely outdoor vinyl

you think it cheapens it? I think it makes it look way sportier and less cheesy than that huge chrome strip and the vinyl i used is very nicely concurrent with the weatherstripping around the other windows...

agreed 100%. I've always thought the chrome around the doors was cheesy. Esp. the 01-02's w/ chrome door handles, totally think it takes away from the car and sets your eyes to much on those pieces.

nice work. It doesn't cheapen it. I also wanted to do that. Did you just stick the vinyl on, or take the trim off before applying it. I heard its almost impossible to remove the trim without bending/ruining it.

you can't remove the trim, it's connected to the middle glass piece from what I can tell.
Red, do you have a shit load left?

tons and tons, so much that i can redo it again and again if necessary, i want to redo some spots where i was lazy and it bubbled a bit but bubbling was not apparent for the most part
