Comptech Exhaust

Hi, I have been a member for quite some time, but this is my first post. I basically have a completely stock 01 CL-S. Only mods are tinted windows and a new set of Yokohama AVS ES100 tires, which by the way work great. I was interested in the comptech exhaust system, and wanted to know if people thought they sounded good, and if they sound even better with a CAI as well? Any recommendations? Thanks.

Chris.

comptech exhaust = $700 for 2-3 hp

if you are in it for the sound thats cool but performance wise its not a necessary upgrade.

Right, I am happy with the performance of the car, I don't want to dump a whole lot of money into it right now. I have noticed a lot of people have the HKS exhaust too. They seem to have a more agressive look. I would like the car to have more of a growl, but at the same time don't want it to sound rediculous. Any suggestions?

I think the hks looks too 'civic', if you know what I mean. I don't want to say ricer but I think its close. Its louder and more visible. The comptech adds a good sound, and is less noticeable, but then you are spending 700+ for virtually no gains and only a small change in sound/appearance. If you really want to improve the sound get comptech headers and icebox intake (or AEM intake if you want it to be louder). You will get a nice sound, and as a side bonus add 35 hp or so. I know you said you are happy with the performance, but it can't hurt to be faster can it?

^^^ but thats a lot of $$...if you just want better sound throw in an AEM intake for 200 bucks and the sound will be much improved.

the comptech exhaust sounds great. it has a nice rumble to it. add a cai to that and it sounds even better, especially in vtec.

i would advise against using d5 unless you are at 70 mph +. the droning can get annoying.

I stopped using D5 all together.... D5 only if I'm going faster than 70 mph. To my suprise I actually got better milage too with D4. Before I get around 250-270 per tank (when light comes on), but the last couple of tanks in D4, I got 300+ miles per tank.

Thanks Matt, I should have listened to you sooner.

Hey CLS2001_97124, I was just checking out your pics in your sig.
AWESOME looking car!! I love the Aegean blue, I wish I could have gotten that (I bought mine used so no choice).

How did you get the TL kit modded to your car? Lot of work? I assume a bodyshop did it.... a lot of $ ?

I guess I'll find out next week when I put my CTs on. I use SS most of the time anyways, so not a big deal.

there are other (cheaper) mods that can make you car much better without having to spend 700. Suggestions people? maybe an ice box, aem cai, or some headers. What are you looking to spend? sound? engine? exterior style?

I had my axle back done at a local muff shop.
Custom MANDREL BENT into Mana Flow Muffs. Its a little louder than stock no drone to it in any gear. Don't know if I gained anything by doing it power wise...but in my opinion at the $250.00 price tag complete....I was all over it.
