Zaino Question???

Hey there guys...Since everyone says Zaino is an excellent product (Damn those CL's look good with Zaino) I want to try out but I have a couple of questions first.

When I first bought my car in February(2001) They applied that Customized Chemical Treatment to my car it is called "A Touch Of Class", They threw it in for around $300.00 & I was so stoked to get the car I said go ahead and do it.. But after reading what Zaino can do for the car I am like "that was a waste of money" Anyways... my questions are:

1) Is Zaino safe to apply to this "Touch Of Class" that the Dealer applied?

2) What Items do I have to purchase in order to get the ultimate protection and finish on the car?

I know that this question has been asked before but any help would be appreciated

I'd get the Zaino Clay Bar (or any clay bar product) then use Z1, Z5 (if you have scratches), Z6, Z2. You can keep doing Z2 over and over with Z6 in between, but I didn't find that much improvement after I did a few coats of it.

Here's the pic after I did my Zaino last weekend:

The Zaino does look nice. I'm undecided about using the clay bar. Someone had posted that if it's used too often it can remove the clear coat. I need to find out what the definition of "too often" is. I don't think a one time application will hurt it. Hopefully they are referring to several times a year.

clevie,

I LOVE those CHROME factory rims.
I’ve been thinking about doing that since day one, but I’m afraid I’ll hit a curb the day after I get it done.

I second the use of ZAINO & a ClayBar.
Whatever the dealer put on the car for 300 bucks is probably GONE after a few acid rain baths & car washes.

From what I've been reading, it looks like the Claybar is something that should be done once, maybe twice a year. After that, regular washing and waxing with Zaino should keep the shine!!

Do ya know if the clay bar is abrasive? I'm not looking to strip the top coat like ya would on an older oxidized paint.

clevie: I used to live in SLO. Went to Cal Poly for a couple years. I miss it up there. I bet it's hard to get a CL-S meet up there, huh? I'll be driving through over memorial weekend (in my CL-S) so maybe we can have a mini meet.

The claybar is not abrasive its just a bit sticky which is what you want. In fact when using the clay bar you're to spray a lubricant solution over the area you are to clay. The industrial fallout on a new car is amazing to feel. Metal dusts from railroads and other pollutant sources just embed themselves into the paint. Feel it. First wash your car and with your hand rub over the washed area. Feels smooth? Sure but its not. Now wash another section with Dawn, then clay the area properly with lubricant and THEN rub with your hand again. It's so smooth you'll start to rub everywhere, everything and everybody. You'll be looking at your watch trying to calculate how'll you'll get this done in less than 3 hours. Yes Zaino is labor intensive the first time but after that its real fast to reapply. Just don't do it on a humid day.
