Was that your CL on 60 Minutes? NY plates

Congratulations, you made it on TV (Andy Rooney's segment) by parking across the line!

What was the segment about? People not being able to park in one spot in a near-empty parking lot?

Andy's pet peeves with other drivers and road rage. That includes people who can't park between the lines.

Oh that's a perfect park job. THe line he's over is the end part. You can see it's painted in. It's not like he's taking 2 spots or anything. Maybe Andy would just like to have it closer to the next spot so he could ding it.

That’s EXACTLY how I park every day at work.
I always grab the closest end spot and put my two left tires right on the line.
That way the SCHMUCK next to me can’t ding me.
And nobody is tempted to “add” a spot to the row.

I guess Andy Rooney never had to deal with door dings before or else he'd understand.

he's in a 50% anyway so it's not like he's taking up anyone elses space. It was a good move!

That looks like it was taking at the parking lot in Pepsico. I know that parking lot well. It's where we used to go in High school when parents were home and you wanted to have sex. at any given friday or sat night you could find 10 people hooking up in cars.

Never knew about that...I know exactly where the PepsiCo building is, maybe I should try that out when I come home for Christmas!

That's poor journalism to mis-represent the picture. Whoever's car that is might be able to sue them (considering how easy it is to sue people today) and at least make them post a correction on the following week's segment.

That picture is made to look (and purposely taken from an angle that gives the impression) that the car is over the line of the space next to it, but in reality, as someone else pointed out, that line is on the end of the row and he's just parking away from those fucking mental midgets that whip open their 1980s-era vehicle doors with their 400lbs of lard ass without a concern for what's in the way of the door's path of travel.

Agreed.

Also, there are some crazy ass people out there. Someone might have a huge problem with people parking like that, and WCY might just become the next target.

But from a legal stand point of view, the car was parked in public, so there was no legal responsibility on their part to block out the license plate.

Some of the people out there are STUPID, and they won't even see the line, on the left, marking the END of the row.

Clean car, though. I like it.

The context of Andy's piece was simply his pet peeves. He showed a number of vehicles, many of which were easily across the line or into a couple of spaces. This was just a quick, quick snapshot (one of many); I guess they were driving around this parking lot and if there aren't many to choose from, gotta get (whatever pics) you can. The point was people do it and it ticks off some people, regardless of your personal reasons (right or wrong).

You can sue for anything. But if you have no DAMAGES, don't expect to get paid. When you drive your car in a public place, you have no reasonable expectation of privacy.

So the point wasn't to trick someone into believing that car was parked improperly, it was to show that people DO it (sometimes) and this is just an example of some of the things he hates. That was the intent of the piece. Lawfully, doesn't matter if the space is on the end or not. Parking over the line is ticketable.

But not as bad as when there's actually a spot next to him.

I never park like that. I am worried about dents and dings, but that's why I park all the way in the back.

Someone I knew from highschool worked for a police department, and had the job of driving around that town and giving 10 dollar parking tickets to anyone who had atleast 1 tire over the line. I never park next to anyone so doesnt really affect me. It would be annoying to come out and see that ticket on your windshield thou.
