You think our stock wheels scratch easily...

Check out the wheels on the TL A-Spec. They have absolutely no protection from the tire. Are they all like this or did this car have the wrong tire size? I think the tire size was 235/40/18, but don't remember exactly. I was at the dealer today and was checking it out. Looks great and would love to see those wheels on a CL. Here's a crappy pic I took with my phone's camera, you can see how much the rim sticks out beyond the tire.

Those wheels are as good as gone. They def need to put tires on w/ rim protectors.

yea, i believe all the A-specs are like that from what i have seen, i don't understand why they aren't putting a wider tire on, it would make sense

damn, I've never let anything touch my wheels when driving, isn't anybody else carefull when they park or drive, i mean do you guys bump cars when you park and open your doors to hit parked cars when parking? just be careful and check your mirrors when driving. whats the difference if you scrape a lip or a spoke, otd still damage.

Rod,

When you need it there is a guy in Ft.lauderdale who specializes in repairing Rims from scratchs dents and chips, I have 2 rims that are scratched, i think he has time next week, so i will post, before and after pictures. Yes it sucks, but all is not lost. I've seen some of his work and it is excellent.

I never understood this. Just don't crash your car into curbs and you won't have a problem.

Fuck, I wish the previous owner of my car understood that. I have 6-7 noticeable rashes on my rims and it's all his doing. I've not added a single one, eh. Aw well, I'm sure he didn't _mean_ to fuck up his rims.

There's a TL A-spec at work with the A-spec wheels. I parked next to it one day and spent a few minutes checking it out. The front rims were scratched REALLY bad around the edges. The rims stuck out just like the pic you posted. And you know they have that gunmetal finish to them? Well when they scratch it's bright gray so it sticks out like a sore thumb!

I love the way those rims look but that's just throwing your money away.

Well I actually need someone who repairs bent rims. Does he do that? I don't know if I should even bother fixing my 19s, but I'm thinking about it since the tires still have lots of life on them and I don't think I'll be driving around as much as before for the next year or so, so I should be able to keep them in shape.

i would switch to a 245/45 tire if it fits in there, the whole craze of low profile tires is great...

...if you live in an area where it doesn't snow at all

The 17" OEM rim/tire setup is just as bad. Alot of us are switching out the crappy EL42's and getting 245 or 255's at the same time. There are lots of horror stories of messed up rims.
