Yeah...I understand. But, frankly, the only thing that was messed up was the shipping of duplicate headers (2 rear headers instead of 1 front , one rear). Every incident was addressed and resolved promptly.

Fender4 had his mechanic refusing to do the install. However, he later did the install himself with no problem.

It is still the case for now. I was promised that a 6-speed version is to be considered in Q4 03. I will raise the issue again.

Nash, what will be the cost and have any/all problems with them been addressed and corrected if from manufacturing defects ?

Why I ask is I have seen some folks report extra stuff they had to have done to theirs to make them fit.
What is warranty like ?

I guess, the GB cost will be like last time $400 shipped.

All issues have been addressed promptly. Some did go through an optional minor grounding and clean on the welds/flanges. Anyone who followed the recommended instructions did not have problem installing the headers.

The headers do not come with a stated warranty, but any issue have been address and resolved promptly.

CC usually is not accepted. I accepted Paypal and Money orders. However, I may accept CC with 3%-4% Paypal fee ( ~ $15).

For fitment, you may only need to bore out the lower holes on the A-pipe as it was done on the stock headers.

Stone Headers improvements and new product:

I guess, we are seriously considering the following:

1) Releasing the 6-speed version, this one will be would be sold to either the 6-speed or the Auto, the Auto Version can be still ordered for the Auto.

2) Improving the quality inspections on:

a) the welding points
b) The flanges (should be flat)
c) Enlarge the lower holes on the A-pipe same as it is in the stock to ease installation.
d) And smooth out the inside of the pipe from any rough edges.
e) better tolerance control on the dimensions of the headers to make sure the headers would fit with no modification at all!

Please add what you would think is needed.

Thanks,

Nashua

If all that can be done, I am interested.

Can you add the heat shield so the dealer doesn't notice them?

Not needed, headers would not affect the warranty.

I know but one less thing they notice the better. Just on a side note: why is it so difficult to replicate the quality of Comptech?

Nashua,
I am definetly in the market for a set of headers. I heard too many horror stories straight from Jens at park ave acura about OBX headers last month when I was there for my spring install. He had me talked into comptech because of the superior quality, and how they "bolt right on" .. Jens will be doing my header install, will he have a fitment problem if I bring him Stone headers and save about 700$ over buying the 1100$ comptech's? I just don't want any problems with them fitting and having him tell me I may have exhaust leaks in a few thousand miles.

Stone headers are NOT C.A.R.B. legal.

If installed according to the instructions, there should be no problem installing the stone headers.

You should try to get them manufactured to fit the auto as well as the 6 speed. You would get alot more business this way.

Assuming Stone corrects the problems they had with bowed flanges incorrectly sized holes and some apparent issues that came up in some of the installations it should be a relatively straightforward install .Then again they are not C.A.R.B. certified and when I say Comptech headers fit I mean they fit as well as the factory stuff .To date I have seen one single cracked Comptech header and that was corrected under warranty .The header was on an older 3.0 litre car .It was also a non dealer installation yet Comptech stepped to the plate and fixed it .

Nashua deserves great respect for his efforts to bring to the table some options for headers .I realize CT charges some very serious money for their parts and this makes them prohibitively expensive for some people so it is good to have options .I am certain that we can install Stone headers as well as OBX however untill I see some Stone headers I will not know .Having installed OBX on many occasions I can say that OBX has issues with quality control that they need to address .Among those problems I have encountered .Incorrectly sized or spaced holes , weld problems ,flanges not welded on at the correct angles requiring considerable effort to get a leak free seal .I get the impression that Stone is willing to make changes which is not the impression I get with OBX so hopefully the next batch of headers from Stone will be problem free .Again much respect to Nashua Nighthawk for his considerable efforts .

I'd be willing to pay $500 if the quality was improved and installation were easier. $1100 for the CT headers is just alot of cash. I'm sure many other people feel the same way.

So, I'm hoping that the head gasket is thick enough so it won't leak due to the bow?

When you torque it down it will flatten some. I would be weary of a snapped stud or weld breaking too in addition to the leak. Just pay attention to this and keep an eye on it afterwards.

i'm interested this time around.
comptech are too costly for me.
i wanted to go obx, but after hearing all the horror stories, i'm a little weary about them now.
how do the stone headers compare to the obx?
were there any issues with the first batch of stone headers?
for those who have the stones, what are ur feelings on them?

I am also interested if the fitment for the 6-speeder can be facilitated.
As we all know, there is no other reasonable choice other then CT for us.

Hey . . quit jacking up the price :P some of us would like to see it $400 or less . . .

I'm still in sticker shock . . never paid more than $200 and that was a set of premium headers . . .domestic of course. :P

Nashua --

I read up on the original group buy thread and wanted one really bad.

Now, how good will fit/finish be on this upcoming batch? I read a couple occasions where people couldn't get it to line up right and were missing some bolts, etc. Will these problems be resolved, and will it be a direct bolt-on without problems?

I know it's impossible to get it absolutely perfect. But I'm just curious as to how close it will be.

Thanks.

Pure Adrenaline ,

I emailed the factory a "list of improvements" that has to be done.
I am really hoping that more attention to quality checks would be done this time.
As you mentioned, one can't promise 100% absolutely perfect fit each time. However, with planned improvements, it would be way smoother and easier than last time.
