Are you guys in the Northeast getting less MPG with this winter mix?

Since gas stations changed to their winter blend gas I am getting a lort les gas Miles per gallon. I used to go 300-320 miles from when I filled up till my light came on , now im getting 240-260 miles to the tank. I drive the same way and the same place same distance same spped so all I can think of is the winter blend gas. Has any one else noticed this in the last couple of months?

That plus these factors: Could be the gas you buy now has ethanol blended in, and ethanol doesn't produce the power pure gasoline does....I think it is 80% as powerful as gasoline. Local stations here in Md. blend in 10% ethanol. Also your tires are cold resulting in more rolling resistance and the air pressure may be lower now due to the cold. The engine oil starts out colder than in summer too. On the plus side engines make more power from cold air.

Here in Colorado I'm seeing the same thing. I do use Super which is only 91 Octane. Because of the elevation. I spoke to a local Speed/Machine shop owner a last year when I built my Tahoe motor. He said even in the summer the pump 91 octane would not test at that. It was more like 89 octane. So I can only imagine the winter blend is even worse. I did run a NOS (black bottle) Octane booster mixed in 6 gallons of pump super and the car did run much better. But I too have noticed on my 100 mile round trips to work that I'm geting worse milage. In the colder weather you can run lower octane. The cold helps prevent pre detonation. Thats why there is a winter blend. Wish I could get summer blend 93 octane in the winter!

Just last weekend I went from detroit to Chicago, took me 3/4 of a tank on the way there (93) and half a tank on the way home (87) (girl friend filled it forgot to use 93. Odd tho for sure... Mixtures are not consistent from state to state, Detroit gas sucks ass

right now im getting about 19-21 mixed highway and city in milwaukee. these last few days of below 0 have been bad on my car. very slow crank to turn over engine when its -10. i used 93 octane only. one trip to chicago, 75 on cruise control netted me (surprisingly) 28mpg. with minimal city driving.
