Yoko avs100's vs kumho supra 712

i'm debating between these 2 tires, i shopped around today and prices are around 130 per tire balanced and mounted.

Dont you think 130 is too much??

anyone had both of these tires??

I've heard wonderful things about the Yokos...

Here are Tirerack's prices...

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes....odel=AVS+ES100

You can then ask the tire shop you're considering doing business with what thy're charging for just the tire and determine yourself if you're getting a good deal.

For $130/tire, sounds to me like they'd be charging about $25/tire to mount balance. That's just a guess though...

BTW - Both those tires are 3-season tires. Do you have a plan for winter?

I once bought from tirerack and selected a recommended installer. I got one location for $12.50 per tire including balancing and rotation for AVS ES 100.

Tirerack can even deliver your tires to one of these locations.

I say YOKO's nice styling, sticky, and great reveiws except for threads!!! But the price is good, just say you bought them thru tirerack, $109+shipping, then take them to a shop +$15->$20 per tire = More $$$

just save the hassle and get it done all in one shot, still not bad price, just my opinion!!

If you want something really cheap the tirerack has Kumho 711s for $73 per tire in the 235/45/17 size. I just got some Kumho Ecsta MXs. They are really sticky but somewhat noisy. Definitely an all out performance tire. I would get the Yokos over the 712s though if they are the same price.

I would say my Falken ST-115's are as good as my Kumhos 712's were but quieter so far. Th kumhos have a better traction rating, but I don't feel a difference, although the kumhos were 225's and the Falken's are 235's. The kumhos did last a long time and were great, the Falkens should last as long or better.

I'm scared of the Kumho, my friend has bubbles on all of his tires at less than 10K.

Kumhos are decent but can't match the Yokos grip. Yokos are the best tire for the money period.

I just got my ES 100 installed this weekend. That are the best tires for the price and so far I think they are as good as my S0-3 I had previously. However, ES100 has a thicker sidewall, thus it stick out alittle more and I was rubbing. So I had to raise my car up about 1/2 inch.

I felt that the Yokohama ES 100 are better than Faulken FK-451 and P7000 SS.

I've had both on a CL-S; the Kumho on my '01 CL-S and the Yokohama on the current CL-S6. The Yokohama is the better tire with better grip. They also seem to be wearing fairly well with all things considered.

The Kumho were a good tire, especially for the price but I did have one gripe against them. They would flat spot easily (much easier than Yokohama do now on the CL-S6 and the T1-S I had on the BMW) after sitting in the garage for a day. You get the associated vibration until they are warmed up.

It was more significant and would take 5 - 10 miles to get rid of it completely with the Kumho. With the Yokohama and Toyo it is minimal and gone within a mile or two.
