Yeah, smoked some S2000 last night...
Going home last night I see a silver S2000 trying to pass on the 118 FWY onramp. I downshifted to four and gunned it, so did he.
We merged on the 118 together, I let him pass to confirm the race. I gunned it again and passed him at around 120 MPH, I slowed down to let him pass, then I passed him again.
I did this about four to five times to confirm the kill.
Highest speed reached was about 130 MPH, starting to pull (slowly) in fifth gear.
It seems the S200 takes off quickly but loses steam quickly. Everytime my Vtec kicked in I passed him with no problem.

Nice kill.
What are your mods? It sounds like this guy really didn't get the most out of his car, those things are wicked on the top end.
Also, watch out for planes on the 118. I've heard some hooror stories about people getting nailed.
Later,
Dave

To add to what GS Dave touching on, sounds like the S driver couldn't handle the car. They are tricky to drive and to get the most out of them they need to be shifted almost perfectly. Plus they pull like a bitch after 6000RPM when VTEC kicks in. Do you have mods?

I agree with zapata. The top of the rpms is where the s2k dominates, not the bottom end (they have no torque, it is a N/A 4 cylinder.)

but i agree with zapata to
my neighbour has a 2000 model and that thing is quick if you push it
by 60 he was a 1/2 -3/4 car a head of me and still pulling
on a 30 mph roll i could pull on him to around 70-75 and we would reel me in again.
i would think at 100mph-140 the 2000 wouldn't be much comptetion for us. we have that weak spot after 110mph
i thought these cars were 14 second and under cars.
did honda detune them in the new models.
magazines say 5.3 seconds from 0-60 and a 14 second quarter
could be faster if owner is willing to wail on the clutch.
with my mods i figure i have to be running 14.1-14.3

I guess it is very possible that this happened but the rest of these guys are right, if not properly driven then the d2k is not a great car. But once you know how to drive them, they are very fast. Top end a properly driven s2k would leave a 2001 CL-S behind. The s2k doesn't get into its greatest range untill around 4th gear. Also, the back end tends to shake around and become hard to control after about 100mph, this is with the top down though. bs
Stock CL-S (auto or MT, you pick) vs. a properly driven S2000 ... I must agree w/ the guys above, there's no way you would've won. Not only would it beat you, it would beat you pretty bad.
However, with that said, there are circumstances other than the car which makes speed. So, no BS flag from me.

Just posting facts guys.
I was a bit surprised myself.
We did do this about four to five times.
His pulls were very fluid, I could not see/sense him pulling off the trottle to let me pass.
Maybe the driver was messing with me eh!

I'm just saying it's a unique win
The fact that it happened on the highway makes it hard to swallow. However for an in town race, thats a different story. I've already pulled on two S2000s up to 80mph then I let off cause of traffic lights. I know they'd leave me after that.
But as said before, a win is a win. Good Kill.

I agree, the 6 spd CL-S is right up there with the s2k. Unfortunately, the stock SS CL-S does not have the juice to take out a s2k.
Although it is hard to believe, but congrats, nice kill!
