XM Radio...Is it worth it?
Hello Guys anyone know if its worth getting XM Radio? My friend works at circuit city and he was telling me to get it. Can somoene give me some more information? For example when will it NOT work? Is it like cell phones and TVs do they also have that problem with "sun blockage" ? And do they have any antennas that fit INSIDE the car so it looks like a nice clean setup....
Thanks a lot!
Thanks a lot!
i have had xm for about 4 months now. i think the $9.99/ mo is worth it. The very few commercials on it are not an issue at all, althought i have not heard sirius yet. the variety is great also and the channels are grouped by genre.
i think the thing that appeals to me the most though is no contracts. i travel a lot and at times leave my car for months, and that way i can just cancel the subscription and then continue it when i return.

got to go sirius.
but the quality sucks on both.
even if you have the stock bose its very compressed and sounds that way.
personally i think your better off buying an ipod.

quality sucks??? no way...I've got sirius and the sound quality is fantastic, I bump it all the time it sounds as good as any CD. no commercials is fantastic too. sirius is great its got all sorts of music...for example they have I think about 6 hip hop channels...2 are mtv type mainstream stuff, one is old school, one is DJ stuff, and one is mostly underground lesser known people. funk flex does a show, grandmaster flash had a show the other day, dj clue was on...keith murray hangs out in the studios, they have live broadcasts of all sorts of people who come by the studio.
I spent 3500 on putting a new stereo in my car last month and sirius is the thing I like the most...for 100 bucks or so it is definitely worth it.

You may be able to work OK with the antenna on the shelf behind the rear seat. The only missed reception I've had is occasionally with a "lot" of tall buildings (drop out of 5 seconds or so), and in parking garages. I think $10.00 a month is high. YMMV
I never really thought about XM until I had a chance to experience it on a road trim from British Columbia to AZ with my Dad. He has XM and it made the trip so much more enjoyable. Great selection of channels and not many commercials at all. I think the only time we lost reception was up in some really thick forests and high mountains in Canada. I have a friend who just put the antenna on her rear deck and I've never heard it cut out...If I had to put that thing on my roof I'd never get it.

XM radio rocks! Buy the Blitzsafe adaptar......worth every penny - $108 from blitzsafe shipped to your door. I have the pioneer unit and buy the terk 3 low profile antenna and mount it on the trunk lid. My signal is always 3 bars.
I hate my XM, starting to hear more commercials, and more stations that used to be uncensored going censored. Why am I paying to listen to music to hear it blip for the curse, and the only channel left uncensored is the Channel 150 Comedy.
I listen to Sirius at work and I like it, but my deck doesn't support Sirius.
