Arrow Xlr8 hfc will pass emissions test

So as some may know i installed the xlr8 hfc and i liked everything about it except i was always wery of whether or not i could pass the emissions test.

so a few hrs ago at 2:45 i got my emissions done.. and with all my mods and now finally this high flow cat converter, i STILL passed the emissions test.

So there you have it.. I'm thoroughly impressed with the purchase...defs more pep up top end

That's good!

It seems as though a company couldn't sell a catalytic converter legally without it having a minimum "scrubbing" capacity. With newer porous materials available with a larger exposed surface area, it should work just the same although allowing more volume to move through.

catfisha... this is NOT a normal high flow cat.. the XLR8 has a 200 cell count vs a 600 cell count so it does 33% of the "scrubbing" as you say.

therefore it was a cointoss as to whether i was going to pass. Hence why i made the thread. most hfc have the same cell count just different flow characteristics.

even XLR8 said quote "it should be able to pass emissions"

now he can say YES it does pass emissions. and all you doubts can buy it and be happy with the purchase..

hell my oem cat is worth 100 just for the precios metals.. so the xlr8 cat is a REALLLLLLY great buy..

yes there is rasp from 2-4k but oh welllllllll i don't mind it at all.. and it screams up top.

And I'll add I just purchased the newer HFC last week after frying the older model with a misfire. Passed DC inspection, which they brag about being as hard on emissions as Cali.

And thanks again Josh!

That is cool news for people with strict emission laws.

In AZ, if your car has OBDII and you have no CEL, you auto pass. You could pass with a test pipe and a defouler lol.

Possibly. Let me know what you need and I'll see what I can do.

Hey so do you think this would pass in California? I'm looking for really anything I can do for my car and being in California, it limits what I can do. Would this be able to pass smog legitimately or no?

Don't quote me, but the emissions inspections in DC are told to me as being pretty strict. I don't know the numerical standards between the two, I can only tell you what they told me. Maybe a vendor on here like MrHeeltoe in California can give you some insight.

The Emissions Test That Progression Passed Here Is Pretty Strict. You're car Goes On Rollers And Sniffers Go Up Your TAil Pipes. It Measured Hydrocarbon And CO 2 Parts Per Million.

The cats we use are not CARB legal. You could always put your factory cat back on during emissions testing.

Stupid California regulations lol Nothing I want is legal. I'd have a guilty conscience if I did that to be honest. I know, I know its wimpy but its just how I am. Also it doesn't help when your dad is a cop and he knows whats legal and what isn't. Thanks anyways everyone.

Agreed. Just a way for garages here to make money.

I had the Magnaflow HFC and failed miserably. I got it to pass by installing a second cat, but it messed up my exhaust note. My Comptech mufflers sound like stock now . One thing I would say is get the 2 year plate sticker so at least you don't have to worry about E-Test for a while.

lollll good point it saves money for sure..

and yes it is a scam cause cars run so clean these days compared to before when it WAS a problem..

now they are doing emission tests on cars that would could pass easily..

all that money going into making sure our cars are supposedly clean..

when the gov could spend that money on something that actually does give back.. IE clean energy (wind, water, solar). or public transit, better infrastructure. ALL that saves the environment..

and by money i mean the money we spend getting emissions done could be pooled up and then used for something worth while..

DID u know a major volcano errupting produces more CO2 than all of north america's cars for a year??

so really our cars are doing nothing in the grand scheme of things... we just have this stigma about how cars are so detrimental to the environment..

how about boats they shit their fumes directly into the water?? don't see emissions tests there?? oh wait who cares about the ocean, we don't see the effects.

but yes back to my point BIG SCAM,

buy the XLR8 HFC if you were on the fence lol

the only reason their is a smog test is so eventually once the standards keep getting stiffer it will force EVERYONE to buy electric vehicles and therefore make all the rich guys who own all the oil (who already own the electric transportation industry) have a stranglehold on the global economy.

TRUTH^
