WTF does 'XM ready' mean?
Just curious because the s2k I wanna get says 'XM ready' on the Honda site when I build and price out the model. XM is not an option to buy though honda but XM will work if you get it. I just want to know what kind of work I'm putting myself through by wanting to get XM. Is it going to be installation work or do I just buy a coupld XM components and pop the receiver in and I'm good to go. Anybody have XM?
I don't think it actually stands for anything. Like FM (frequency modulation), and AM (Amplitude Modultation), XM denotes a frequency spectrum used for broadcast.
XM Frequency 12.5 MHz of S-Band: 2332.5 to 2345.0 MHz
I don't think the X stands for anything.

Depends. Some head units are XM radio ready, and you just get the XM qantenna and reciever and plug it in. Others require a seperate control/display and a means of getting it into your stereo (FM modulator, AUX inputs, etc).
You can buy an XM portable radio and just set it in the seat if you prefer.

Nice! THanks suXor!

XM ready means that the headunit has controls for an XM satellite radio application. You still have to buy the antenna and I think some sort of receiver that is put in the trunk or under your seat. But you don't have to have a sepaate display to control the XM radio broadcasts.
