Wow talk about craptastic luck

The owner of a 2002 CL Type S with 89K on it.

In the last 2 weeks I have had horrible luck with my car

1. smacked a pothole (asphalt pitch black and raining). Cost to repair $1100
a. 2 new front rims $600
b. new set of ball joints $200
c. 2 new front tires $200
d. allignment and oil change $100

2. My airbox nut broke, so I tried to drill it out and retap for a replacement = failed and so it will be $60 to replace. Right now the air box is held together with super glue and duct take and a zip tie where the missing bolt goes.

3. The rubber on top of my driver's side headlight is coming off

4. Had to replace the battery (mine was original complete with marysville ohio delivery address)

5. small 1/2" tear on my driver side rear seat (have no idea since no one sits back there)

6. Effing trans is on it's way out with less than 18K on it, thankfully it is still under warranty until 12-31-09

7. not related to the car but my sirius car adapter broke (cheap ass chinese plastic crap) so no satalite radio for my trip to MI and back

I'd go out of my way to blow that tranny to make sure it will b replaced... Sorry 4 ur misfortune tho bro..

Can't you make a claim on the city due to poor road maintenance.

Cause in Toronto Canada there is construction all the time and people destroy their cars sometimes and then they get the city to pay for it since it happens a lot.

I'd go back to the pot hole... Measure the damn thing and take pics of its location and then go to the city...

it can't hurt... but that's just my 2 cents. I'd at least attempt it

I agree with Progression, put a claim in for the wheels and suspension for the pothole. Chicago was paying out the ass last couple years for the claims cause they don't know what it means to build roads to last more than one season. If you take the car in for the tranny they shouldn't give you much hassle on it. They know they are built like garbage.

$200 for window regulator??? Dude, you got robbed. I think it lists for around $100, I got mine for $80.

Did you have it installed by someone else?

@#$!*! dealer cannot duplicate the trans problem and are tring to tell me that the fluid color is OK for 18K mile trans (it is starting to burn and is a reddish brown color)

1. I use a white cloth and the trans fluid usually leaves a light reddish pink stain on the cloth, now the stain is reddish brown. trans has 18K on it.

2. Trans was slaming into a lower gear under light throttle

put the wet needle up to your nose, you can smell if the fluid is burnt

ever thought about ur tranny ecu??? just a thought

cause we do have a seperate ecu unit that run in conjunction with the engine ecu and if that is off it could mess that up possibly. Cause under light throttle you should be able to hit the gear no matter what, and should not downshift.. Remember that's the computer telling the mechanics of the tranny to downshift... cause the tranny doesn't know it needs to downshift unless it is tld to do so VIA the tranny ecu

and FYI even tho my trans is mint, my 1st to 2nd gear is a lil weird on the engagement only at a certain throttle position. Which means it's electronically related. and i'm not spending 1000 on a new trans ecu for that stupid lil inconvenience. cause I know how to avoid it now.

My trans went on me like 2 months ago or so. it would go into every gear if you let go of the gas and then slowly gassed it. the tranny wouldn't downshift out of the ordinary ever. But that was just my symptom.

I'd change the ATF filter and do a 3x3 tranny change and see what that does.

Also does ur D5 blink ever? that means there is a code stored in the tranny ecu. which only acura has the correct scanner.

If ^ doesn't help... do u live near canada? cause the guy who did my tranns could do urs... or anyones on a zine for that matter... if ur up for a drive. guaranteed under 2000CAD cash and it'll have new parts and u'll never even know it got worked on by looking at it.

i get where ur coming from. you shouldn't have to do that and what not. But if you wanna start getting solutions, what do you expect to do? It seems like the only one who can help you is urself, by taking advice from this site.

Cause it's apparent your DLR isn't to be trusted with presenting a solution.

the solution is to replace the fucked up transmission, not to throw money at it by changing the fluid every 18K. I'v been though this once before changing the fluid on average every 7K with the last transmission. If I want to do that, I'll just go back to driving american made cars.....Acura supposed to be reliable when properly maintained not a flaming pile of dog shit that this has turned out to be.

correction i have it put in by an acura mechanic. no at acura. so yes it was like 100$ish the also he replaced the doorlock actuator that he had (50$s) and the install so 200 for all of it.
i still need the passenger actuator then all my problems are gone

yea that's what I did.. rebuilt by an acura mechanic, who has done too many of them already.

It's amazing what he "knows and will tell you" in comparison to the answers you get at the DLR when ur talking to the front desk. They talk BS left right and center so they don't look like fools who have tranny problems out their WAZOOO.

I was quoted 4100-4300 then taxes!!!! Insane. so basically I got all my mods for free is the way I see it :-)

Most of the time the service guys at the front desk are just trying to make a deal. They're salespeople, its what theyre supposed to do.
