My wife's Sienna does not have a Navi.. only a hand held GPS... Now she asked me to store this FREE phone Service on the cell phone..

 

So you call that # and it will tell you the weather and directions?

I thought all 555 #s were fake, that's why they use them in movies.

yes, i use it quite often too...works very well, esp for sports, movies...didnt know u could get directions too, but i gto a navi so its all good.

i wont find some odd charge on my bill?
do u have to have an adress or just a name of business or whatever?
do u stay on the line as u drive and tell it to go to the next part of the directions, or do u have to stop and write them down?

 

you can stay on-line and say next or write down the instructions.. since it's a 800 service it is free and no asking you any billing info!

 

I believe that this is free. And this company will make money doing this. Anyone care to guess how?

Nah, that's not it. Although they probably sell the marketing information that they collect by tracking your caller ID.

The real benefit is that as a service provider or telephone company, they get to charge the originating phone company to terminate the call. In other words, if I call from a Verizon served phone and terminate the call at tellme's 800 number, TellMe gets to charge Verizon a termination fee for connecting the call. VZ charges your to provide the telephone service and this terminating company gets to have some of that money. Its called reciprocal compensation. If you are good at it, you can give away the content (like these guys) and simply charge the other telco where the call originated from.

 

Nice service, but why don't they have a feature like that with our Navi systems ?
