Would you buy this Legend Coupe?
Hey,
I'm getting a bit itchy with the idea of a second car....
How about this '94 Legend L coupe?

Price is about spot on for a 6-speed....maybe offer a 1G less. If it was a Auto it should be in the 10-11.5 range. Milage is really low, but there is a timing belt coming up on it.
I paid 13,500 four months ago for my 1995 LS Coupe 6-spd with 83,000 on it. Mine was/is bone stock. I prefer the LS/GS Legend wheels - you should ask if they still have them.
The only problem I have with mine - between 1600 and 1900 rpm (even out of gear) I have the "typical" vibration that these cars have. Only thing is on mine it is very strong. Look out for that and maybe use it to push the price down if it's present. Otherwise it looks great and the asking price is not over where it should be. They are rare and even rarer in nice condition with low miles.
Keep the CL and drive the Legend on weekends.

whoa... hot damn!
now the Legend definitely gets responses.
i wish i was 100% committed to buying this car...
but unfortunately, all of our money is going towards
the wedding and house.
with my new job, i can definitely get it. but our wedding is taking priority, then the house....
and the other problem is, the fiance loves her cl... so she wants to keep it, since it will be paid off very soon.
besides, she wants to get something new and much nicer after we pay off the cl.
ahhh... i'll still be dreaming. the legend coupe is always a favorite for a project car. but it's not in my immediate future.
also, i agree that it is overpriced. but then again, if it is indeed in good shape, no accidents, etc... then it wouldn't be too bad at maybe $12-13k.
anyone else thinking about buying it?
i wonder if it is still available.....

i would definetly question the mileage. my bro bought a legend about 6 years ago but it turned out the miles were rolled back. im not suggesting that the seller has rolled back the miles but 75k miles on a 94 legend is almost UNHEARD of!!!!!

Nice car but................
make certain the car is looked over very carefully by someone you trust and is qualified .
Make certain the ABS gear is in good working order ,parts are hellishly expensive .
Make certain the differential is not leaking or the PS sensor in it is not leaking .
Make certain the exterior bright moldings are in good shape especially the small side windows ,the rubber moldings are known to fall apart with time .These parts if they need to be replaced are also very expensive.
FInd out the maintenance history on the car and when the last timing belt/waterpump was done ,you do not want to know this car if the belt fails .
CHeck the front ball joints and CV boots they are not terribly long lived ,dry rotted CV boots are common .
Make certain the rear suspension is in good order especially noting the longitudinal control arms .On older cars the bushings fail and make terrific amounts of noise .
If you do buy it have a high quality alarm installed .These cars were so easy to steal it is almost a joke .
Make certain the leather is in good shape and not dry cracked .If you do buy the car make leather maintenance a priority as the leather in these cars is another high cost item.
Also inspect the radiator especially the plastic upper and lower tanks .They are not all that strong and can crack or the rubber seals will fail .
Because of the age of the car and the fact that it was made in Japan and not locally means that virually all the parts are imported. As these cars fall of the radar screens of dealers the likelyhood that they will stock parts decreases .This does not mean the parts cannot be had it just means some repairs may take longer due to parts having to be ordered .Also due to the made in Japan deal many of the parts are fairly costly if and when they do fail .
We noticed for instance that many of the ECU's used in older legends are very expensive compared to locally made CL parts .
Hope this helps keep things in perspective .Jens

I say do it and do it quick. That car won't last long.
