Would this work???

I want to keep my stock mufflers, could i just get 2.5 inch piping and
Random Technology High-Flow Direct Fit Catalytic Converter. Or do I need to get some universal mufflers in order to gain more hp? The main question is do i need univeral mufflers to in order to gain hp. Give me all the advice you guys can give me on a custom exhaust.

You won't gain more then a few HP from exhaust. The stock system is free flowing already. Your basically going for looks & sound.
Unless you have SC or turbo.

man i didnt know the hp gains were hardly nothing. So exhaust is look and sound? So putting xs headers on and leaving everything else is a good idea?

I just have the XS headers and stock exhaust and I like the tone of it a lot, but sometimes I do wish it was just a tad louder. Eventually I might go with the Magnaflows, but for now it's pretty close to perfection.

Yeah go with headers. They're the restriction on the exhaust system.

just change your exhaust res with the magnaflow one? someone is acutally selling an almost brand new one in the blk market https://acurazine.com/forums/car-parts-sale-361/sold-fs-magnaflow-14-resonator-363056/ actually if was already sold, but you can get an idea...along with the xs headers (putting mine on today!! )

not to hijack but I was just wondering going F/I would it make a huge diff. if one used comptech axlebacks with stock b pipe along with headers as opposed to a full exhaust system?

You Type-S guys won't get real gains from a catback...1-2 maybe for looks and sounds.

The headers and the cat would be the only thing I'd change on a Type-S.

There are dynos around to prove that the RT cat will give you 10 more horses to the wheels.

If any of you have headers and stock exhaust and are looking for a louder tone but nothing comparable to an aftermarket exhaust, an aftermarket cat is your choice.

Would it be pointless to get just headers and not exhaust? Someone told me if i got just headering i would not see any hp gains unless i went with a bigger exhaust. And has anyone converted to singles instead of dual for more back pressure?

No. Just headers will work & perform fine. I ran that way for a long time before I got the CT mufflers.

Your not understanding the setup. The CLS was engineered to have a free flow exhaust system. As such any mods to that system will only produce very min gains, & give you more noise.(good & bad noise)
