Would u pay extra for side curtain airbags??

just curious...the new Z offers them for a few hundred extra...i personally think u can't put a price on safety, so any additional safety is worth getting, but that's just me

I think that side curtain airbags refer to those that open up near your head. We have side airbags that open lower to brace the shoulder/body.

BTW, where do the side airbags open from? Is it in the seat or the door? (I'm guessing door with sensor in seat)

I think that's crap :thumbsdn: Include it in the price of the car. Don't charge me extra for something that every car should have in the first place.

Dude, that's why the car is $26k to start and not $27-28k. Not everyone wants them, so they don't jack up the price of the car.

I don't mind paying $500 for them.

It is safety feature. To charge extra is low. I understand it's a buiness so just put into the cost of the car. I think Nissan does this with the Maxima's as well. I was looking into the maximas and then when i saw that shit i got turned-off.

what i don't understand is why some manufacturers are STILL charging extra for ABS...i mean, my folks' '93 Infiniti G20 has ABS standard, and that's the cheapest Infiniti in the lineup back some 9 years ago

Doesn't it have to do with DMV laws? Like, for example airbags are standard nowadays by law but side and curtain are not. Besides, it's a shell game. If the Car is 27,000 without the curtain airbags BUT they wanted to make them come with it then the new price of the BASE car is 27,500. This probably helps them keep a low bottom line price.
