Would dirt form a protective coat???

I am moving to school next week. I was wondering should I wash my car, or leave it unwashed with all the dirt it has on now. I figure its gonna get dirty anyway from parking in the dirty parking lot. Plus if my car is dirty, maybe people wont walk close to it, that would prevent anyone accidently scratching it. Would the dirt form a protective coat to my car??? hehe. My last car I had at school, got a few dents and scratchs from leaving my car there. I hope noone steals my HIDs, stealing the car is fine at least i can get a new one. So, wash or not wash?

Wash and wax. there are chemicals in dirt, and they will eat over time. Also get a car cover.

And if it does get stolen you won't get a new Type S.

You'll get what they think your car is worth. Maybe like $25K.

Agreed... In college that '88 Legend was great. it was a good car but nobody would want to steal it.

thank you for thinking the question is stupid. But its somethign I got to decide. Pay $10 to get a car wash, then park my car, next time I go back to the car, it'll be weeks or even months. It'll be dirty again. THats why I wanted to get some suggestions as to if I should waste the money in washing it or just leave it.

think of it this way. if you don't clean it then some thief will figure its abandoned or that you're not around often or that you don't really give a shit and shove a crowbar into the window.

well if i get a car cover, its going to get stolen, and its the school auxiliary parking lot, i am paying for it but they dont take responsiblilty if anything happens to ur car. Which as i mentioned before, i got hit 4 times there with my old car. If I go to other parking garages, it would be $540 a month, which im not about to pay. Its ok though, thanks for all ur advises, im going to wash it.

I cant believe you are seriously asking this question. I f you dont take care of it and dont care what it looks like over a long period of time.
Why did you waste your money on a good car, or do you not have to work to pay for your own car.
