Is it worth it??
Is it worth it??
Hey guys
We have 2002 TL-P that just passed 70k on odometer and I'm starting to see a problem with it. At anything above 50mph, when braking, the steering wheel shakes tremendously. I just called a few Acura dealers and they said front brakes need to be placed as well as rotors need to be resufaced. Total cost = $270.00. If the car only needs resurfacing it would be $230.00. We purchased the extended warranty but they claim it wouldn't cover brake issue. Here's my questions
With this much mileage, is this something that's expected out of this car?
Is what they claiming correct? (extended warranty not covering brake issues)
They'll provide me with a loaner for free of charge but is it going to be worth it getting this serviced at acura dealer even though they claim that they can't really give me any kind of warranty even after the work since its main cause is by everyday usage?
We all know, I can get this service done for alot cheaper at local body shops but do you think it's worth it? We are planning on selling this car before it hits 100k so no need to spend too much money on it.

No, definately tell them to replace the rotors. Normal wear and tear still shouldn't cause them to warp.
I have 38k (KM) on my CL-S and the dealer replaced mine at 25k cuz of the rotor warping under good will.
Thanks,

Thanks,
$270 for braking pads and resurfacing isn't too bad a price. You may be able to take it to Firestone or something to get it resurfaced for $50 or something though. I replaced my brake at 45000 miles, and now at 68000 I start to feel shaking again. My dealer said in order to resurface the disc, their protocal calls for replacing the pads as well. Since my pads still has quite a bit left on them, they suggest me to just try to live with it if it's not too bad.
