I've driven alot of crap in my days, but I must have been lucky. Never really had a car that I hated.

If I had to pick one, it would be the 84 Oldsmobile Ceira wagon. It was FWD so it handled ok in the snow, but the damn thing always needed something done to it. I had Ford Pintos that were more dependable

I had a 90' Plymouth Sundance. Luv the car. Had a stock turbo, It was just that everytime I got a paycheck, 99.9 of it went to repairs. Got to love american cars.

My Dad had an '88 RX-7 Turbo II 5-spd. He had clutch/tranny issues once in a while. Was a fun car though.

almost everyone i know who had an american car has a story about spending a crapload repairing it. And when selling, not worth a damn.

1998 Land Rover Discovery LSE.
Oil leaks everywhere.. electrical probems.. a full 90L tank will only last 250km. Trade in the piece of carp just before the 3 yrs warrenty expires for a 01 CLS

Actually .. I've owned many cars (foreign and domestic) .. the 03 CLS6 is my 3rd (and last) acura ... I got the 03 from Acura for $2k + my '02 (an offer I made after tranny #2 was starting to fail .. and they accepted after they put in tranny #3). I can honestly say, I wish I would have kept my '98 Integra GS-R and never bought the 02CL.

I'll warranty the 03 to death .. since part of the deal included a 7yr/100k bumb-to-bump warranty ... but it is a car that I do not trust (had the 'fail-to-start-when-warm' issue twice now) .. nor do I consider it a quality vehicle .. and once you 'cross' Acura .. your service experience goes in the toilet .. They have shown their true colors - it's all Lip-Service ... it is no longer a pleasant ownership experience .. but hey .. it's paid for (I had to buy a 2nd reliable vehicle) .. and there are tons of tow-trucks that can pull it in for the next 6 years ... all paid for by Acura

But I NEVER recommend the brand to people that ask .. and I point give them the various newspaper articles I've kept .. point them to this site ... and to the NHTSA report ... for them to make up their own mind and form their own opinion

For me, my first car I ever bought brand new, a 1969 Triumph Spitfire convertable. $2,500 out the door brand new. 12,000 mile warranty.

At about 11,950, I took the car to florida from chicago with a buddy for vacation. First time we hit darkness, I hit the three position rocker switch to turn on the headlights. The switch came apart in three pieces in my hand.

The left, rear axle bearing froze. After I got that fixed, a pushrod broke. All I did on that vacation was get my car fixed.

2001.5 VW Passat GLX 4-motion Wagon

Granted, German cars are 'quirky'. But why was this the worst? Because of all of the little things that have gone wrong with it and the number of times (and the amount of hassle associated with each) it takes for the dealer to fix it (and not break something else). I know that no car is perfect but when you pay over $30k (for then VW's flagship model) it should not come with problems that you can only justify on a $15k car...and crappy service.

My father had an awful 2001 Volvo S-80... That car had so many little problems.. About 10 times, after getting gas, the damn car would not shift from 2nd gear, because it thought there was a fuel leak. We went through 10 headlights. Then the dealer told us they they both needed to be changed at the same time. Shut the door and the drivers mirror glass fell out. Dash light kept burning out. Leather wore through in 40,000 miles. Steering wheel leather fell off. So many LITTLE things.

But it did have a great stock system.! :sneer:

You just had bad luck. Never buy a Nissan or you will have many more problems.

I can't envision have "more problems" with any other brand than Acura .. My last two Fords have been infinitely better than my last two Acuras .. As far as dealership experiences, I can't really compare since my Fords never went in for any warranty work as compared to the front row parking spot my Acura dealership has for me. I spent more time in loaner cars than I did in my '02 CLS.

We all form our opinions based on our experiences .. and my experience went from wonderful (my '98 Integra GS-R) to horrible ('02 CLS/'03 CLS-6) .. and these are details that I share with my friends/peers - both positive and negative

1998 Ford Exploder V8 AWD - absolutely the worst gas mileage evah! 14 on a good day, 9-10 on a bad day! Also went through tires every 12,000 miles. Bought in to Firestone's lifetime alignment and had it aligned every 4-5,000 miles and it still burned through tires. Unloaded to an un-suspecting Audi dealer for an A6 in 2000.

I talked to other owners and mine was a lemon. No one else seemed to have the issue.

My worst car by far was an 84 Rabbit GTi that I owned for a couple of years. It was fun car to drive, but I never knew when the next bit was going to fall off that thing. And, they were such flimsy chassis, that when driving and a strong gust of wind hit the car, the doors felt like they wanted to pull away from the body at the tops.
