Worst features on CL

Well someone did a best features topic so you have to have a worst feature. Most of the thing I don't like about this car are nit picking things, shows you what a great car it is. Here are a couple

1. Center console cupholders : If they could make this a little easier to scratch that would be great.

2. Rear window defroster : by the time it defrosts I am at work.

3. SS : DONT SHIFT TO SECOND GEAR AUTOMATICALLY, please.

4. Rims : Could be a little more aggressive but they sure do scratch well.

5. Leather : Was wearing out the day I drove it home. A little tougher stuff next time Acura. And could there be more little hairs sticking out of those little holes?

6. Sunroof : I like that it opens only 3 inches, doesn't let too much sun in that way.

7. Seatbelts : refuses to retract back in to holder. It does make a good door stop for the drivers door though.

8. Sunroof button: now who was the brain trust that came up with putting the button is such a great spot. Maybe next time they could put it in the trunk and then no one could get to it.

9. Cruise control button : See above

here is what i have to say:

1. i hear ya
2. i hear ya
3. i REALLY hear ya
4. i REALLY REALLY hear ya
5. i hear ya on the little hairs part, but my Zymol Protectant has helped keep the seats in good condition
6. i hear ya, and in addition, who was the genius who decided the let the sunroof go back only 75% of the way?? do u know how hard it is to pop my head up out of the sunroof when u got the wind-guard to contend with?? my '93 Infiniti G20 doesn't have that problem??
7. i hear ya. mine always gets caught between the seat and the door handle
8. i hear ya. my '93 G20 had the controls where they belonged, so u can imagine what an idiot i must've looked like trying to break the habit of reaching up to open the sunroof
9. never had trouble with cruise control b/c i'm so used to its position in relation to other cars i've driven, however, i have had instances where i've mixed up the stereo controls with the cruise, so picture almost rear-ending some dude goin 70 while changing tracks on the CD-player

it's funny. i got my baby at the end of July last year (but the car was made in 6/00), and already i realized that a new cup-holder exists and the leather seats were a bit different...plus new colors are offered. anything else different (improved) i, and many others, are not aware of??

I got mine in June os 2000. No hair on my seats.
Also... the car is just too darn reliable. I wish I could learn more about my car by having to pull over and fix it every other week. I mean... that job interview can wait. Nevermind that appointment, the car needs to be fixed. I figure they can wait. I don't care if I have a meeting with the CEO. He can wait while I fix my car at the side of the road.

The side view mirror is too high for me. It blocks cars waiting at stop signs an the cross street.

Reliable? I am sure Honda/Acura is good at it. But don't you think it's too early for us to praise it being darn reliable? After all it's still 2001 model, and I have been to the dealer three times for two fixing: roof booming and roof rattling.

the seatbelt not retracting is actually a feature, rumor has it that it would break the windows, so they changed it. the leather, well I got the passenger side changed already under warranty, driver side is next ... i suggest the same to you all, haven't heard anybody else do it though.

1. Foot-operated ebrake.
2. Poor fit and finish/rattles
3. Clumsy gated pattern on shifter.
4. Exterior dimensions just a touch too big.
5. Weak "beep" for alarm/hard to see LED

The seatbelt in my 91 Legend Coupe used to retract quickly every time like a champ.
Sure, it hit the glass on occasion and even put a small nick in the aftermarket tint, but it never broke the glass.

seriously speaking I think the paint is pretty weak, and the sun roof don't open all the way (can live w/ that ) but on the old legends you could change your memory seat while driving. but in our cars the gear must be in Park or else it won't work. and for the big mirror thing, try sitting up right more that helped me. If I get int he 'pimp, lay back ' mode I can't see through the mirrors either. but once I sat up right, (racing) mode it was all good.

Why didn't you tell me that you wanted a car like that? I would have sold you my 99 Motor Trend Car of the Year Chrysler 300M! You would have had a LOT of practice doing things to that car! Heard some poor soul in Providence, RI bought it!

I hate the fact that I can only hold four people due to the center storage in the back seats. I hate the fact that change keeps falling out behind my coin box and keeps it from closing properly.

it would be nice if the driver mirror also tilted in Reverse.. would help protect the rims a bit better.... the foot op e-brake is old school, not a big fan of it. I have already seen some scratches in my car and I only have 1400 miles on it... Well, that';s why i got the paint protection thing....

I would like more leg and head room... My seat is all the way back and all the way to the floor and my head has about 1/2" of clearance.

Also, the temperature reading takes about 10 minutes before it is even close to accurate. My fiance's new 2001 Chevy Silverado Z71 LT only takes about 30 seconds to adjust.

One more thing, I don't think the air conditioner is cold enough.

Yeah, I have the same problem with the hairs on my seat, not to mention the excessive wear. Scooter, you use the Zymol Protectant...that works well for you?

Also, as far as excessive wear, fbazakos, you got your seats replaced? How bad was the wear?

I hear the complaints too...but, it still is a great car to drive.

yes i've used the Zymol Protectant on my seats, as well as the rest of the interior like the dash, steering wheel, center consol, etc. it seems like the Zymol is doing a pretty good job keeping the seats as moist and in as good a condition as possible. i've had the car since July but only got 6,200 miles on her, so most of the exposure is not due to me sitting, it is the sun drying and cracking the leather. the trick is keep the ventilation goin as best u can. tilt the sunroof and open the windows an inch or 2. i've heard the Meguiar's Leather Care is good also, but i haven't tried it yet.

1. Paint quality. Aside from the fact that black looks more like purple/dark blue, the quality just SUCKS. I have less than 7000 miles and they're everywhere! My Integra's paint job was perfect.

2. After 5 MPH, the car rattles like crazy! I'm sure a few of you have had problems similar to this. Like Soopa said, I also think the car's in self-destruct mode hahha..

3. "SportShift" mode: can't shift until 3rd gear...I guess it's half of half of a standard transmission...know what I mean?

4. Large blind spots: driver's side mirror/pillar -- as someone said, it would help if I was sitting up, but being 5'8" [and used to the G-ride mode], I have to sit at a 90 degrees angle; rear view -- hard to see where the end of the car is at. 90% better after I had my spoiler installed.

4. Foot-operated e-brake. Don't know if this is a problem with all CL's, but either have to put LOTS of pressure on it, or the car doesn't stop completely. No more old-fashioned donuts either...

5. No fold-down seat?

6. Seatbelt retractor is kinda annoying, but I can live with it...

7. Maybe it's because the car is huge as it is, but the wheels look like 16" from far away.

8. Did everyone forget the Blose system? Or do they actually like it? My rear right speaker already blew out...

Not every car is perfect [although I think my Integra was 99.9% perfect]. We should enjoy what we drive, for $30k it's a real bargain. Put it this way, at least 99% of the CL's don't have any engine/mechanical problems, which is what Honda is known for! At least we don't drive a FORD! The features/advantages outweigh the disadvantages 100:1! Don't you agree?

Definate thumbs up on the Zymol, best leather product I have ever used. After you put the stuff on and buff it out the seats look brand new except for the wrinkles. I also have the unsightly hair problem (on the car that is), can I get the seats replaced for that alone - or do I have to show excessive wear on the leather? BTW, why did they use such crappy leather? The seats in my wifes BMW are sooo nice, so soft, why couldn't they use that stuff?/?????

hehehe that beep was the car protection assurance. If you press you lock button on the remote more than once within 5 sec., there will be a beep. Spelled out in the manual. If you left your headlights on, they will be turn off in ~10sec. after you lock the doors.

no complaints here....my seats were going through puberty but now it stopped...seats are not hairy anymore...I wonder if thats just a phase until all the excess hair comes out....cars fast enough, comfortable, nice looking, and reliable...the sunroof button feature some of you guys are complaining about is normal for acura/honda....my 94 legend coupe sunroof button was in the exact same place so maybe i'm just used to it...

my brother's '92 Prelude sunroof button is in the same place also, but he's got what i call an "outtie" sunroof...not a glass roof, but it sticks out above the roof of the car when opened...looks more sporty

My only complaint is the steering wheel. Why oh why didn't they put the RL's wheel in there? When my legs are comfortable, the wheel is too far away...

I did have the overhead button for all my previous cars with sunroofs (sunrooves? heh) but I had absolutely no problem adapting to the acura/honda system.

I'm just glad the roof opens and closes as quickly as it does (a one-touch switch would be nice, though)

Acura should have put the horn buttons on the steering wheel spokes.
