Worst design lapses by CL designer...

The more I think about it, the more I am convenced that the worst designs lapses for the CL are:

1) Sway bars: the stock bars are not effective...the CT sways bars should have come standard on the CLS.
2) 235/40/18 with Summer tires...or Pilot A/S ... on lightwieght rims the handling gains are amazing....

Finally, since there are lot of lowered CLS to hide the wheels gaps...Acura should hire a BMW engineer to design their wheel well and suspension system...

Lack of telescoping wheel (it's too far away for me). Seat doesnt go low enough (and I'm only 5'10")

Build for the masses.

It's amazing how much you guys complain about a car THAT YOU BOUGHT. If you're sooo unhappy, why did you buy it?

I'm in agreement with Shawn, you guys fuckin bitch more than my wife AND my mother-in-law COMBINED.

But I agree 100% with your points.

I agree with you ... surely most of us drove other cars and made an informed decision. Now, if you just went to the Acura dealer and said "sell me your fastest car," then I guess I would complain that it wasn't a M3, S4, Z8, L5, G9, or some other such number nonsense after driving it awhile.

Those who did the upgrade ( lucky me ) know the difference... totally another animal..

But anyhow, revealing the CLS weaknesses makes it better

Speaking of mods, I saw a little snip on SpeedVision last night about this Mustang tuner shop (I forget the name now) that had mod packages for V8 and V6 mustangs. The V8 package was insane: $55k-$75k and that DOESN'T include the cost of the car itself. Performance was also insane, and street legal as well. Probably from all the stickers....

But the funny part was the V6 mods. The total kit was like $5300 installed, which included changes to exhaust, intake and a few other things. Brought that 3.8L V6 up to like 210HP, 0-60 in 8.0 and 1/4 mile in like 16.0. :o

I had to laugh.

Thing is, while the stuff listed above might be nice to have, they certainly don't "break" the car. The CL is a great car. Sure, there are things that could be "better" if you want to achieve a certain effect. But the truth is, ANY car, even the most expensive one you can find, will probably have something you'd want to change. These don't indicate design flaws or "dropping the ball" on the part of Honda/Acura. I'm sure the engineers thought of a lot of those things, but they also had a design target. The target for the CL is a sporty luxury coupe, not a tricked out street racer.

Y'all should be happy that you CAN mod your CL. If it makes you happier with your purchase then by all means, go for it.

You bought the CL for a reason. Change what you don't like and quityerbitchin!

I think Acura should allow a person to drive the car for 30 days before any sort of money is exhanged. If the slightest squeak or rattle develops the car should immediately be rebuilt or the price dropped at least $8000. There is no reason a $30K car shouldn't meet every expectation and demand of every driver. Simply unacceptable.

Bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch

All you guys do is bitch, bitch, bitch.....

Nothing major wrong but there are a few design flaws that are not evident when you test drive it. I agree the seat feels too high. Thus the comment, you sit on it rather than in it. No handbrake. Makes emergency brake turns real interesting. Outside mirrors do not adjust outside enough (taught from driving school - expand your rearward view). No fog lights. Single XENON low beams - high beams ineffective. Nits and lice and I bought it anyway.

Sure, and the next time you apply for a job, you will work for free for a month, and when they find out you're not as good as you claimed, they'll offer you 65% of what you had agreed upon. YMMV

lol! I saw that and couldn't believe it either. First, the 100K total for the V8 car is rediculous, but those V6 packages are laughable! If you don't like your CL-S, go check out a V6 'Stang - what a pile! For 30K, we got the best deal running!

Hehe. I have only one VERY minor gripe, I'd like to be able to get out of the car in winter or rain without getting my pant leg dirty.

No, wait! No one, that is no one bitches more than MY mother-in-law. Come to think of it, I call them the OUTLAWS, not the INLAWS. It's a good damn thing they don't own a CL-Type S. Even if it was perfect, they would bitch plenty.

LOL - I just received a Mustang Convertible V6 as a rental. It is a giant carved piece of plastic. If anyone here needs to learn some appreciation for their car, go rent a car for a week! I don't care if it's a Taurus, Mustang, Kia, Town Car. You will really love your CL afterwards. They told me the 'stang has leather seats and I still am not sure. The body moves like a piece of jello on bumpy roads. Too funny.

You could also say that a $20K car should be leaps and bounds above a $10K car. All the things ive heard here are typical for a $30K car. If you want all this stuff, get a mercedes or bmw for $40K. If you dont like it, spend more. But then you'll complain that it doesnt have IDrive like the new M5. Worthless thread IMO.

Oh, Acura paint is not a $30K paint though.
