You guys sure worry a lot about other cars. I mean, that's just auto-evolution. I am almost 100% positive that Honda/Acura is well aware of what the other manufacturers are doing and will counter every move. No need to worry about it now, enjoy what you have.

And, remember this:

1.) When you buy a fast car, there's always a faster one just around the corner.

2.) When you buy a car with a lot of free "options," there will always be one just around the corner with more.

3.) When you only paid $30k for your car because it was the best deal around, there's gonna be better deals just around the corner.

AMEN.... the same thing is happening at the TL forum. It's rediculous. Everytime a news story comes out about a new car (Maxima, Sentra, etc.) there's a topic about it and about 25 replies all saying how that car will be better then theirs, etc. It's rediculous. All I can say is thank god no one on either of these boards is on a computer bulletin board. They would be posting topics every 3 hours about new and better stuff.....

First let me say that I am not complaining when I am posting new models coming out and make comments about them.

I disagree with Eclipse about not careing about the competition. On the contrary. Acura has come up with our cars because of competition. I mean this is a major statement that goes agains capitalism. Competition is what makes industries not being monopolies and our society a democracy and betters peoples' lives.

Competition is the reason why the NSX will be a better car in 2003 and the reason cars get new platfomrs every 4-6 years and get better and better.

Now. It is also important for us to follow what the competition is doing if we wonna call ourselves enthusiasts OR even if we wonna claim that we love our cars more than the average Acura owner. Why? I said before and I will say it again:

FOLLOWING THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY MAKES YOU UNDERSTAND YOUR CAR BETTER.

I will expand on that by adding...it also helps you understand your NEXT car better which will help you make the decision of WHICH is going to be your next car.

In other words, I am not an Acura fanatic. I am a fanatic of PROGRESS. Which progress is directly corelated with the principles of this country like INTENSE COMPETITION for the good of the consumer and free markets and trade.

Bottom line. If Infiniti came out with a 2 door coupe with the same characteristics as our CLS for less money...well...bye bye Acura. To me there are no camps...this is not the Bulls vs the Nicks. This is about "HOW MUCH CAR CAN I BUY FOR MY MONEY". It is about value. Of course it is about more things like looks, style, name/image, etc. But VALUE is the most important thing for me. And if it were for all of us, the M3 would cost $40K and would $0 premiums cos there would have been resistance to pay the $63K I saw it today advertised on the fricking Chicago Tribune. Can you imagine the nerve of that dealer? Well...it is not him...it is us, the consumers who let them do this to us.

Anyway, I made several important points above so let's hear it. I know it is coming.

As for me, I'm just getting tired of hearing the same old complaints over and over again. Yeh, I know, I could just skip over those posts (and I usually do), but it's still annoying. I've certainly made my fair share of complaints, but they were back in January and February when this board was new. Now, newbies on this board are posting this same stuff over and over. Blah!

Anyway, this is an ACURA/HONDA/CL board and doesn't really need to be polluted with a bunch of rumors about what other car manufacturers have planned for their CL/TL/RL competitors. I don't care about that stuff, that's just auto-evolution.

Sorry for the soapbox stance. Just giving my two cents if you care to read it.

You wanna know why I bought the TL-S??? You'll love this one: I was really interested in finally driving a car that had some balls -- so I came onto this site called www.acura-cl.com and went STRAIGHT to the Racing Stories!! As soon as I heard it was a dead-even race b/w a GTP and the CL-S, I put $1000.00 on the TL-S. Furthermore, I loved what I read about the mods available for under$1500.00 for the 3.2-S engine. Gavrill, can't agree with you more -- knowing ABOUT the competition will certainly affect, to some degree or another, your next auto purchase. It certainly did for me.

I remember PC-Mag -- they would have this article about all of the poor suckers that were running a 133 Pentium, when the "real man" applications needed a 166.

Then, it was got to have a 200 MMX -- got to pull out that $1000 and boy, pity those poor loosers with their 166 Pentiums.

And on, and on, and on, and on.....

I pulled around some cars (like they were stopped) the other day in 90 degree heat, and though back to the seventies and just chuckled like crazy. I would have to a bought a "super-car" to have gotten JUST the acceleration and handling.

Forget about the ride, goodies, NAVI, and all the great features.

Oh well...
