Won & Lost to a red TT

Just got out of the gas station where, like a dumbass, I filled the tank completely. I pulled into the outside lane of two lanes which turn to the left. A red Audi TT (debadged) pulled up next to me on the left and cracked his passanger window (probably to see if I was gonna have a go...) Light turned green and I gave it 1/3 gas and noticed he gunned it...so I gunned it (it is a fairly wide corner so my SO3's gripped just fine). Since he had the jump and a shorter radius he was about 3 car lengths ahead to start. I kept the gas to the floor and my VTEC + CAI was just screaming. I think I kinda scared him when I passed him up.

So I took pole position at the next light and he lined up behind me. I took off rather slow and waited for him to pull into the adjacent lane so we could line up. I saw get into the next lane and gun it. Since I was expecting him to line up so we could go fairly, I wasn't ready to hit the gas. By the time I did, I soon realized I was sitting in 2nd gear at about 30-35mph. Needless to say, the damn car didn't downshift and I just watched him put about 4 cars on me while I waited for my RPM's to climb. Race was over before it started.

Oh well, I should have been prepared (and Acura should have let us control 1st gear with the 'tronic).

I won the first race (from behind) and lost the second 'cause he jumped when I thought he was just gonna line up with me.

As far as the 3.2 is concerned, I'm sure I'll need some help with this damn auto tranny.

I don't spin that much really. The tires grip pretty well.

From a roll I'd have this guy for breakfast, lunch and dinner. From a stop (and around the corners) is how the AWD TT makes up it's time and gets into the 14's.

But doesn' t the 225 hp quattro have more drivetrain loss to the wheels? I'm not too knowledgeable on Audi's, but i know the WRX have a huge power loss due to the AWD, saw a dyno from 7thgencivic.com that power to the wheels is actually somewhere around 165-175 HP (stock 227hp).

I don't get many street races, that is true. I keep meaning to get down to the track but I'm doing a kitchen remodel right now and my wife won't get off my back until I get a functional sink and stove.
