Will this make laser detection worthless??

Just read in sunday's paper that several high-end 2002 cars have a new type of cruise control. It uses a laser pulse to check the distance from the car in front of it and will slow down the cruise control to maintaine a safe distance.

So now we have another source of false laser alarms.

I’m not too awful worried about another source of false signal because LASER detection is pretty much useless anyway.

What I AM worried about is how all these false signals will effect a legitimate speed trap.

Say you’re doing 38MPH in a 40MPH zone as you get ZAPPED by a cop with LASER.
At the same time a Chevy Trailblazer hits his brake lights going the other way and another car goes by with his “Laser Cruise” engaged.
Is there a possibility all these false signals will cause a 50MPH reading on the cops display ???

Then again, it could make for an interesting defense of a speeding ticket that you are really guilty of.

Hopefully the next generation of detectors will be able sort out the different types of “LASER” signals and only alert on a true threat.

I see a problem only if the police laser
increases the speed of the nicley equiped "laserCruise" causing the car to go off the road, hitting the Trailblazer, and taking out that cop car and gun.

Humm, I wonder...........?
