Wife is requesting to trade my CLS for a Honda Pilot (or Acura MDX)!!

What shall I do?

We will be having our first baby and that does not go too well with my CLS...

Wife is requesting to trade my CLS for a fully loaded Honda Pilot (Acura MDX is also an option).

I will be free to buy my next personal car for 2004, a 340HP S4 or redesigned 300HP TL-S with an SMG gearbox...

What do you think?

I agree with Charles. Besides, you could do a lot worse than a Pilot or MDX. Both are supposed to be quite nice.

Hey, she could have asked for a Chrysler Town & Country.

yea, at least she didnt ask for a minivan.

i like both those trucks. the pilot is mega understated tho...

id prefer an MDX primarily just for the styling.

but ya... both nice trucks. would behot with a entertainment system and some nice wheels

Yeah, She propsed a minivan too... I tried to run away from such decision... Pilot or MDX looks good for now.. I checked also the Nissam Murano, quite hot wth 240 HP with CVT (7 speed)... wife does not like it...

For time being, I am holding off to buy a new car...(reason due to the very weak economy)... and prefering to keeping my CLS till I find a hot replacement ...

I suggest an RX8 as it has 4 doors. Whatever you do get an MTX or you'll be driving automatics for the next 20 years... like I did.

I say wait for the 2004 3.2TL (given the pretense of a manual being offered), or just buy a 2003 3.2TL Type S if you still want an automatic.

Acura MDX is no slouch; looked at one with my brother when they first came out; dont think you'd be too upset. The pilot is too new to say, but the mags sure seem to like it, a bit boring though

just a tad confused on this point...r u holding off b/c the economy is bad, and your investments have somewhat depreciated??? or r u holding off b/c the economy is bad in general??? if it's the latter, wouldn't u think the incentives for selling cars would b at their peaks during this time??? u think 0% financing post Sept. 11 for most GM auto's was a fluke thing??? from an economic standpoint, the auto manufacturers are desperate to get the attention of the consumer...durable goods, such as cars and computers, sag in poor economic conditions b/c durable goods are expendable...retail items are not, like clothing, food, and personal goods, so u won't see the WalMart smily face rolling back the prices too much hehe but yeah, American auto's are somewhat coming back now since their 0% financing campaign went over with kinda-sorta success...now it's more about offering cash back in massive amounts in excess of $2K - $3K...Japanese, Korean, Italian, English, and German manufacturers aren't soo willing to offer these kinds of incentives b/c there is little reason to...FOR NOW...if American manufacturers have a firmer grip on the market, foreign makers will start to feel the heat and act accordingly.

so what's the bottom line??? if u're willing to look into American auto's, this period in the economic cycle still seems to b an attractive opportunity to get good deals...foreign car makers are not so willing to give as good deals...if u wanna wait, the ripple effect may take place down the road some, provided that people respond to the American incentives more than they have been in the past few months, and foreign auto deals will b in the realm of possibility.

Let me put like this:

I work as Consultant for High Tech Engineering Design Services. We specialize in Telecomm Engineering.

2) March 2001 we were 230+strong Consultants.

Hi Nashua,

I would definitely go for the MDX. I personally think the Pilot looks too much like the CR-V.

I really like the new Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland edition. Nice high-output V-8 and a great price to boot. Reliability may be an issue but many car freaks like myself won't drive the same vehicle for more than 50K miles so it shouldn't be a problem.

Anyways, good luck!

Keep me in mind when it is time to sell the sways and the snow tires...As one who knows, this decision is somewhat out of your hands and, frankly, you know she's right...

(I speak from experience - I traded my beloved '84 Mustang GT for a Volvo Wagon. )

Honestly dude I'd rather get a new Explorer or a Trailblazer than the MDX. They're ok...but a whole lot of the parts in there look and feel REALLY cheap...plus you're talking serious minivan look. At least get something that doesn't just require the soccer mom sticker on the back

If I was in your situation first I'd try to reason with her(cause I imagine you love the CL-S) then if you can't reason personally I'd go Pilot. I just like the Looks of the Pilot better than the MDX both are nice SUVs just the Pilot's style I like more.
