whstling noise

last night my car started to make a whistling noise, from the engine. it sounds like a tea kettle that has barely started to whistle. now the weird thing is its not consistant, on start up, it is constant, once going, i can hear it up to about 2000 RPM. then it wont do it when idilng. when crusing i cant hear it, the engine/road noise it too loud. i havent had a chance to get anyone to hold the RPM's at 1500 or so while i look under the hood, and on start up i have been in a rush to get somewhere, so i havent had the chance to check it that way either

ok the car is STOCK, only thing i have done is change the AF 15,000K miles ago. oil is due to be changed, but not over due. car has 61,000 miles(going for 60,000K service next week, 6 speed, driven hard at times, but never abused.

my guess is that it is the AF of exhaust manifold

anyone know what it is?? dont want to have the dealer tell me its 40 different combinations to rape me more

thanks for reading this semi long post

sounds like something is loose somewhere, but its hard to say what it is without knowing where its from (intake side or exhaust side).

I have something similar, but I know its from my headers as they were just installed a month or so ago. Midas can use something called a sniffer to sniff out any CO that is leaking out around your exhaust connections (exhaust maniflod to downpipe, downpipe to cat, cat to mid-pipe. wherever) which will tell you if you have a leak. Not sure if other places have this. Or you could jusat torque down all the bolts and see if it goes away.

And hows your wrist?

seems like there is a lot of this going around lately... mine only started to do that after i installed the TB spacers. Someone else just posted about this a day or two ago... maybye it has something to do with the intake.

I was thinking the same thing too with the AEM Intake....I'm gonna go see this Tech. I know who owns a car shop tomorrow and see if he can tell me what the problem is normal or not ....I'll keep you guys updated
