whos interested in an icebox group buy

i emailed c c c about an icebox group buy cause i wanna purchase one before the spring comes around. i started another thread, because of lack of editing on this site. this is the reply i received back. as far as pricing goes, it depends on the amount of people. i will email him and give him some numbers and see what kind of price he can give me.

so lets see what we can do. from the replies on my other thread, we seem to be off to a good start
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jim,

We would need to know how many are interested in
purchasing in order to give you a price that is lower
then what is listed on our website.

If you can let us know we can find out a price you.
In addition if you pay via Money order we could lower
the price even further.

Thanks,
CCC Sales

Is this good for a CL-P as well? If so, what gains would I be looking at with just an Icebox with no other mods?

Hey mushutofu, I think I've seen you're TL-S before. It was white and parked in the Japan Town garage. Then all of a sudden, I see a brand new FX. This must be you. You've probably seen my car in the garage too. The silver CL-S. The lowered one with the rims. If so, damn what a coincidence!

Holy Crap!!! Lol

I see your CL every morning...what a freakin small ass world.

Nice drop BTW (very clean) and your rims are pretty new arn't they? I think I noticed your new axis seven rims only recently within the past couple of weeks or so. Very Nice indeed

Thanks bro. I've had the rims since July. I just took it off for a while. One more thing, I noticed your CPMC tag. I work there, too! LOL....way too small. By the way, I like your new FX. Those are some huge ass wheels. Nice though.

Count me in on the ICEBOX, fellas. I've got the 6-speeder. Money order for me too!

Where in CPMC do you work? My office and small lab is in the Gerbode Bldg and my tissue culture and main lab is in the Stern Bldg.

ok i got 1 of 2 emails back this morning and this is what they said. sounds like not a good deal for us. but if u still wanna go through with it, its up to you guys.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jim,

There's not much room to move as Comptech is the one
who sets prices, and we're close to cost now....

If you were to buy it on the site it would cost you
$266 shipped regular price. The best we can do is
$255 shipped anywhere in the lower 48... minimum would
be 5 purchases.

If you wanted to do it more like a group-buy where you
collect the money from everyone and just send us a
check for the total, the price would still be $255
each with a 5 buyer minimum .
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
tell me what you guys wanna do in this situation.

Well its better than paying full price, and you guys aren't going to get comptech to budge much more than this

well if someone in the area has experience then that is your best bet, but i would say any normal place would charge like 25-50 bucks.

if dean does 255 shipped, there's really no reason to do a gb from c-c-c.net then......maybe they'll go lower

IMHO, a savings of $10 isn't worth the effort to coordinate the whole thing and go through the delays of getting everyone on board. I would just as soon pay an extra $10 and get it whenever and wherever I wanted.

At this point Comptech is not authorizing any group-buys, so that price is being given to you by us, without us receiving any discount on cost, so those prices are the best we can do right now. After all fees (shipping, processing, etc) are taken out of our cost we make a whole $2.67 on each Icebox.... so basically we offered that price to hook you guys up the best we could based on our cost. The only way we could do better pricing would be if you'd like to pay with a money order. Then we could do it for $250 shipped.

We had done a group-buy last year through a vendor and it was a nightmare, it took a little over 6 months for everyone to get their order. I checked with Dean (who was tough to get a hold of) and considered using them on this one... but the odds are it would have probably been something similar as the one we did last year, so we decided against it and to just use our regular vendor who would be able to fill the orders very quickly.

I know that UNCTYPE-S has been in contact with us.... and I confirmed that we emailed him back to let us know if you want to go through with it.... so if you once you guys decide, let us know, and we'll put the link in the group-buy section of the site.

Thanks

FYI after the first 5 came through the orders would be processed as received... and from the looks of the thread 5 doesn't look like an issue...

But if you'd like to pay full price you can buy it now and there's no wait. We'd be more then happy to process it at that price for you
