No offense or anything, but did you actually buy your car or did your parents? I have to work hard every month for that car payment, the insurance, maintenance, etc.. I wish my parents would have bought ME a nice car like a CL when I was 19, but instead I had a 1980 Fort LTD POS..

I agree, you should qualify this question only to those who weren't born with a silver spoon in their mouth.

I seem to remember several 16-year olds on the "old" site with new CL's they got from "daddy".

I am 25... i think that is considered pretty old in the type s crowd, isn't it? this is my first car that I own, and yes, I bought with my own money. well, actually I am also paying part of my dad's new car. I just don't feel right taking money from parents, I am old enought to pay them back.

This kind of question has appeared several times already. All the people do is blaming those who got their Type S from their parents and brag about how hard those independent people work to pay for the cars.

I got the car when i was 18, now i am 19.

My parents gave me 10 000 dollars CANADIAN, and i took care of the rest.

I dont see why anyone would take any offfence in a parent buying their kid a car, and i think its stupid if anyone does get offended.

Actually, I think we are in the middle. I'm 25 also. I know there are quite a few people on this board that are older. Of people on this board I think 25 is the average age. I could be wrong.

BTW, I just got my CL-S the end of December (shortly after I turned 25). It is my third new car and fourth car I've owned. My first car was a used '84 Olds Delta 88 that my parents bought for me as a graduation present from high school in '93. My second car was a '95 Cavalier which I bought myself. My third car was a '98 Intrepid which I bought myself and now my '01 CL-S which I've bought myself.

personally, i think it depends on age, i don't see any wrong with parents buying your car if you like a teenager, but if like lot older, then i don't think it is appropiate. besides, it makes your parents more happier if you get a car on your own. just a thought. no offense, all righty.

I am just glad I don't depend on anyone. If I was given the option to have someone pay for my car I would take it assuming that there was no strings attached.

oh this is one of those threads again. you know what, who cares. a person is spoiled if they act spoiled, not because their parents bought them a car.

and nothing wrong at all about parents buying their kid a car -the parents probably feel very good about making their son or daughter happy.

I'll do you all one better. I bought the car myself, but I sure wish I had parents that would've paid for it for me!!! Just think of all the money left over for mods!! Woooheee! And then I'd let you all call me whatever you wanted!!

Wow, look what I started. Hope that no one was upset by my posting, and I assure you I wasn't posting in an accusatory way or to say that I was better than anyone. However, the very fact that a "who's the youngest" thread was started sort of begs the sort of question I asked. I think another way of saying it is that if someone was offended by what I said in my original post that there are probably plenty of people out there who would be offended or upset by the comments of whoever started this thread. The door swings both ways... In a related note, I think it's interesting that this car appeals so much to people that it wasn't targeted at. I thought the CL was targeted at middle aged folks whose kids had gone off to college and they only needed a two-seater. Obviously, the CL is a car that appeals to a broad demographic of people, and that worked out pretty well for Acura. Either that, or the old folks like myself (I am 25) figure that if there is a 16 or 17 year old out there with a CL that a better choice for a first car would be something used or else a cheaper new car (maybe a Civic, Escort, Cavalier, or whatever). Anyway, hope I didn't offend anyone because that honestly wasn't what I was out for.

I'm 20, turning 21 in March. I bought my CL and my integra both last year. I may be the only child, but I had to buy it myself. You actually value and appreciate your car more if you bought it yourself as oppose to someone buying it for you.

I was and am 17 when i got my CL-S. No my parents did not buy the car for me. They gave me a lil help. About 8,000. But once i get all my extras put on i would have payed more then the car is worth with nothing added out of my own pocket. So all of you guys who think that the only way a "kid" can get a nice car is if their parents pay for it, then you need to think again.

well i'm 19, and yes my parents bought it for me, but remember, you don't have to pay for you car to earn it. i graduated 5th in my high school and have had a 92 accord, then a 91 legend before this cl. i'm workin' hard in college and my parents want to help me on some things. i don't considered myself spoiled because i APPRECIATE what i have received, and i don't ever ask for more than what they decide to give me. trust me, i've seen spoiled, many of the people here at ut are well taken care of and they still ask for more. they get their lil bimmers and flaunt it around campus, but then they don't even wash it!! as long as you have a passion for something and appreciate where it's coming from, i don't think theres anything wrong, but hey that's what i think, and some of you guys will still say i have a silver spoon... to all, their own.
