WHO WOULD WIN? CAMARO SS or CL-S
My dad's buddy just got a brand new camaro SS...i believe hes packin 320hp...but hes heavier than mine. Im running stock and Im not sure of his tranny....lets assume auto.
Im sure the weight diff isn't enough for me to merit a victory, but would it even be a decent race?! Thanks.

No way could our car ever compete with a Camaro SS. I would not even attempt to try to race him.
0-60 in under 5 seconds if he drives well. Very scary car, but I would take ours over that any day

If it was an auto, I remember reading somewhere it was about 5.2-5.5 seconds. Definitely a fast car, but lacks the quality of our car. One of the reasons why it is no longer being made.
I guess I would try racing him, but I definitely would not expect good news

The CLS is 14.6-14.8 BONE STOCK (good track/weather/driver).
The SS is 13.0-13.3 BONE STOCK (good track/weather/driver).
You have no chance straight up. Holeshot him by a full second, get good traction where he doesn't and with 1 or two missed shifts by him, you're right there hanging with him.
On edit: Also, most of the Z28s and SSs out there will have a lid-$70 (somewhat equivalent to a CAI for you guys) and an exhaust cutout-$40. These two very simple mods give an honest 20-25 to the rear wheels and .2/2 at the track

you'll see nothing but tail lights getting smaller and smaller and smaller, but you look good losing though

Assuming we are talking late model LS1 Camaros (98+), you are in the same boat either way. The SS is worth .05-.1/.5 at the track and maybe 5-10/5-10 at the rear wheels over a Z28.
The CL-S will be so overmatched that splitting hairs on a tenth or so over the quarter mile is pointless.
Would you like me to scan in a buddy's timeslip, BONE STOCK 2001 Z28, 13.1 @107...
"close".....hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahaha

Hey a Sport Car vs a luxury sport coupe= I don't think so.
What is the point of even comparing these cars together. The SS is made to kill Rustange GT's and the CL-S is made to go against the other luxary sport coupes in it's class. One Question though,
could a Automatic Rustange GT 2002 beat a CL-S.

There's always something/someone faster out there.
As far as the Rustank comment, well...to each his own...

I asked this question just to get some input. My dad's friends just got a new Camaro SS, he loves chevys...After this thread, im pretty confident i'd lose by a long stretch...anyways, it still would be fun to RACE him...im humble, i don't mind losing.

Yes, a stock SS driven well should beat my car, but I've had my fair share of F-Body kills at the track. It should be noted that a stock F-body running 12s is not an everyday occurence, however. For every one that pulls 12s stock, there are several that can only get 13.1-13.2.
