who would win?

hey everybody,

who would win, a stock 2001 cls or a 1.8t gti w/intake, exhaust, and chip? my neighbor and i want to race this weekend at the track. it's just a friendly race so i don't really care who wins, but i would like to know the result ahead of time so i can have the heads up. last weekend i race a stock 2000 vr6 and put about 4-5 car distance from 0 to 100 mph. will the result be the same? thanks!

I'd say your neighbor has the advantage. But who knows, you could still take him

He might take you off the line, but the A/T 3rd gear kicks ass. You will win once you get into third. I raced my cousins stock 02' GTI and I smoked his ass every gear, but thats because I have the 6 speed.

If hes chipped he has you. With the proper chip he could push almot 6psi on his turbo.

Wow, a whole 6 PSI...

Or did you mean 6 PSI more boost?? 0.42 Bar boost is less than stock.

I'd say it's a driver's race, but chipped GTI's can run mid to low 14's with a good driver.

I ran one of my friends' friend's gti not too long ago. It was chipped, intake, diverter valve and some other crap that I can't remember. He was running @ 18 psi. It was almost dead even up to about 85 when I started pulling him in. Granted he had an exhaust leak, but hey... He is usually running mid to low 14's. It will be close, but I say your neighbor has the advantage.

I raced my buddies gti which has those exact mods listed...I hadn't put my exhaust on yet and that left me with H/I...We were even until 3rd gear - I jumped out ahead...we shut it down at the top of third and I had him by about a car....In each race I had the jump because his tirs were pretty well worn...I had just put on new tires and lightweight wheels...Now he just got some type of feul management program and wants to run again....We shall see
