Who Would Win?

A buddy of mine has been talking shit for so long how his 2001 Jaguar S-Type 4.0 can beat my 2001 Acura CL Type-S auto. WHo do you think will win? From both a stop. (red light) And from a roll (coming on a freeway..like an on-ramp). Your opinions and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!!

you should win, just down't fawk the launch because he has RWD, albeit an automatic. Although the jag has more hp/trq....it also weighs 400lbs more.

those jags are fast but i think you would win just because of the weight difference. if he had the new 4.2 liter supercharged v8 version whould win, but he doesnt so hah. even if he does beat you, hes gonna spend a fortune in 2 years when the thing breaks down every couple of months. my parents havent had good experiences with jags. and you have a nice reliable (and fast) honda engine

You will win, tell him you like his Linclon LS and Ford Thunderbird, LOL.

You'll wipe that ford rebadge off the road.

Unless it is a XJR/XKR dont worry about it.

Thanks for the advice fellas. The race is this weekend I believe, unless he backs out. The thing that he's kept saying is that his 280 hp V8 is superior to my 260 hp V6 because his is a V8..and that will make all the difference in the end. Does that have any truth to it at all? I didn't think so, but I'm up for your opinions on that statement. Again, thanks for the continued responses.

Tell him his Jag has never finished more than 5th in a comparo against true luxury cars, the A6 V-8, GS 430, and E 430. The car is dog slow for a V-8. The auto tranny shifts slow and hard and never gets to it's redline. I mean, the 400hp S-type R does 0-60 in 5.5 seconds. That is not impressive either. Your CL-S will smoke him.

Car and Driver got a 0-60 in 7.0 and 15.5 for the 1/4, so you should be fine as long as he doesn't totally outdrive you. What did C&D get for an auto CLS, I think it was around 15.0. But then this is magazine racing, so take it for what it is.

If you can drive, you should take him from the start and never look back.

Kind of funny, Just for kicks I looked it up on Car-Stats.com and they said C&D got a 6.5 0-60, and a 14.9 1/4. Right in between what we thought. The trap in the 1/4 was 96. Thats a sweet trap for a 14.9.

make sure you pick a point where the race is over, like 100 mph, after that, he can catch you
