Who wants to buy my car for only 100-dollars ???
I brought this up a few months ago when the 6-Speed CL was just a rumor.
Now I have one on order and it is due to be delivered sometime in March.
I had plenty of interest the first time around so I’ll give it another shot.
I’m thinking of maybe holding a RAFFLE instead of selling or trading my car.
The price would be 100 bucks a ticket and I would sell a MAXIMUM of (300) tickets.
(1) for 100
(2) for 175
(3) for 250
(4) for 325
(5) for 400
This price structure gives me a minimum of 24,000 dollars, which is what I was offered for a trade.
You have a 1 in 300 chance of winning.
If you don’t have a CL/TL yet, you have a chance to get one CHEAP.
If you already have one and win, you sell one of them and have ZERO PAYMENTS.
If you HATE the CL/TL you already have and win, you can sell both and buy an M3 or AUDI.
The car currently has 19,000 miles on the clock.
And of course it comes pre-installed with that wonderful ZAINO shine.
All factory options stay, but the Subwoofer box and V1 are NOT part of this raffle.
The drawing would be held in a PUBLIC place with plenty of local owners so there will be no suspicions that this is FIXED in any way.
The winner will be given a certified check from me for 24,000-dollars that will be made out to Lehigh Valley Acura.
You will then meet me there or send a representative to “purchase” the car from me.
All taxes and transfer fees are the responsibility of the winner.
I’ve been around here since January of 2001. Before that I was at the TL/CL site and before that I was a member of Honda-Acura.net
I’m not going to run away with your money.
I’m just trying to make some extra $$$$$ on the car and help a member here get a car for cheap.
What do you think ???

PS…I know this is somewhat illegal and I heard from all the pessimists the first go round.

If you would buy a ticket for this, please post here, E-Mail me or send a Private Message so I get an idea of the interest level.
Use the subject heading: RED ACURA CL-S RAFFLE

If I have a good response, I may actually do this.
No money will be collected until I have at least (200) tickets spoken for.
Please don’t waste my time if you don’t plan on participating in the raffle.

Good luck. I'm not in. Won't have any part of this!
But I'm cool, regardless of my post last summer about this. Never saw anything, never heard anything; so don't blame me. You're my peeps.

im down for a couple too shawn..just like the first time this was brought up.
Would you be willing to set up a shipment plan? Like if I win, you can make sure the car is on the truck or however it would normally be shipped.....of course I would pay for all shipping.

sorry, im a little confused...tired mainly.
If I win, then you give me a check for 24k, then i send someone with the check to the dealer, where I then give the check back to you? Or to the dealer? who in turn gives you a check for 24k?

damn, since I totalled my Acura I've been having dreams about it... everytime I see one on the road I feel depressed... I can't afford one right now either... so this would be a really cool deal
put me in for 10
This means that car will be fully paid off and I'll have a pink slip for buying the car right out right? Like no more payments!

I will trade in the car on my 6-Speed and he will RE-SELL it immediately to you.
You will be purchasing it with the certified check that is made out to the dealer.
They don’t need to know that the money came from ME.
That way if any issues come up about the validity of the sale, you will have proof that you bought the car from a dealer and as a bonus the balance of the factory warrantee can be transferred as well.
I thought this might relive some of the hesitation someone might have in dealing with me directly.

If you find a private buyer for your car they just act as the middle man in the sales transaction.
I’m basically “trading-in” my car and they are reselling it for the agreed upon amount.
It’s better for me because I don’t have to pay TAX on the trade amount which in PA is 6% and comes to 1,440.
It’s easy money for the dealership and it counts as a used car sale on the books.
The 24,000-dollar amount is what they told me “sight unseen” for my car when I was signing the paperwork for my 2003 order.
This was based upon the options & mileage only.
What this means to an out of town buyer, I do not know.
I assume you would pay NO PA tax, but would be required to pay tax in your HOME state when you register the car.

So basically it's 2 seperate events here.
1) you trade your car and get a new one.
2) you hold a raffle where you draw in anywhere from $24,000
to $30,000 dollars untaxed and pay the winner with a $24,000
check also untaxed.

Actually you forgot “Event #3”.
Someone gets a well kept car valued at 26,000-dollars RETAIL for as little as 100-DOLLARS.
Yes, there is the possibility of some profit for me. I’m not doing this for the fun of it.

Hummmmm I have a Red/Parchment; What will I do with two, how about let the dealer have it and I just take the $24k. They would be happy because they can sell it retail.
#35
so if i win, can i just sell the car to the dealer there and just take the 24000? that would probably better for me rather then paying for taxes here plus getting it shipped.

This is a pipe dream y'all...
...and VERY illegal.
I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, but don't you think EVERYONE would be doing tihis (dealerships included!) if it were legal?
This is gambling...straight up. You would need to get an expensive license to do this EVEN IN NEVADA!!!
...I'm just trying to make sure no one loses their shirt doing something foolhardy.
Be careful! The law loves to nail white-collar criminals who come up with the "perfect scam". How is a felony conviction gonna look on your next job application?
Just think about it carefully...

Not to give everyone that wants to do this an umbrella...
How do organizations do this? It is done quite often where you buy a raffle for 10, 50, 100 dollars for a car or boat or something.
I've even heard of people doing this with a home or business, so I don't think this is illegal.
This may be a lot more legal if you work with the dealership to make this happen, and pay taxes on the profits. And have the winner pay taxes on the car.
So it would kinda suck, but the winner would only get a nice CL-S for a couple of Gs as opposed to a hundred.

This is nutz...
This is legal quicksand
#1 – If this was a question, what is it doing in Car Talk? This is “Raffle talk”…
#2 – In my opinion, this is a thinly veiled solicitation, that has gauze separating the intent to solicit and operate a raffle from a simple inquiry (i.e. “How would I do this…”).
#3 – The fact that the board moderators and administrators do not feel compelled to remove or modify the contents of this inquiry, leaves their own rear-ends out in the open.
Most raffles are run by fully accredited and chartered charitable foundations, and anyone wishing to can mine a ton of information just by entering "raffle" with a few "choice" terms into Google or other search engines.
Outside of college organizations, charitable organizations, and not-for-profit organizations, the "proposal" is already walking a very narrow line and *could* be construed as a solicitation "as-is”! (Is someone getting the hint?)
The terminology used to stay clear of an outright “solicitation” is so vague and follows deceitful tactics so closely, that anyone looking to mine for further impropriety is going to be on solid ground.
Indiana Raffle info (from student site): http://www.indiana.edu/~sls/raffle.html#before
Washington State: http://www.wsgc.wa.gov/docs/4-164.htm
A further look in PA under Raffle + Crime would be instructive – have at it…
http://www.google.com/search?q=cache...ania&hl=en</a>
Bill to offer states protection
In addition, a United States Senate panel passed a bill this summer outlawing Internet gambling.
Sponsored by Sen. John Kyl, R-Ariz., the proposed law would require law enforcement officials to identify a Web site that provides illegal gambling and seek a court order to stop the activity, requiring the Internet Service Provider (ISP) to "pull the plug."

state laws vary maybe ?
From one story I recall in California about a year ago,
There was a 1/2 million dollar house up for grabs
in a contest to see who could write the best essay of what to do
with the house if you win. The entrace fee was $200 per essay.
It was reported on our local channel 2 cbs all in good fun.
So what if you add a simple measure of skill (not luck) into the game and a panel of impartial judges and lawyers to back it up?
-----------------------------------------------------
Street racing is illegal too, and we have racing stories?
1)For me, I think this board implicitly assumes its members act responsibly as adults.
2)As a moderator, I don't get the chance to read EVERY post and EVERY thread.
So, in the chance that we don't respond, that doesn't mean
we've made a decision *not* to respond. In fact, this topic
hasn't been discussed yet among the tribal elders.
3)As a fairly opened ended forum, I believe that our members
can post their thoughts about issues they have and are allowed
feedback for it. Shawn's first post stated that he was "thinking"
about this issue. I see no real commotion for the time being,
and you guys are free to give him your thoughts about it.
Note: none of the above opinions expressed are the collaborative beliefs of the board admins and moderators, but of KavexTrax alone.
