Who installed their own spoiler... Help

I have a question on tapping the third brake light. I noticed chikai tapped into his and it looks like he just stuck the black and red wires into the plactic clip that came out of the third brake light harness. Is is that simple?

Here's a link

Not sure, but I was thinking if you take out the wiring for the third brake light in the window it would go right in the spoiler setup, but I could be complately wrong.

I saw a TLS and wondered if taking the power from the 3rd light for the spoiler disabled the brake light in the window. In those pics it doesn't, so now I am confused more.

I'm pretty sure you take it from the 3rd brake light. I know my 3rd brake light no longer worked after I had the spoiler installed

Not sure either. He may have plugged the two contacts together to get the third brake light and spoiler light to work together.

I plan to tap into the wires and pull the bulb out of the third brake.

why would you pull the bulb out of the 3rd brake light? Isn't there already a connector there?

I've installed literally hundreds of spoilers...but all OEM ones that have connectors for the third brake light. Just tap into the harness and remove the bulb from the third brake light connector so it doesn't light up along w/ the spoiler light.

This is not an OEM, but it's identical. I have two wires, red and black. Any idea's?

I don't want the third brake light to illuminate when I apply the breaks. I only want the spoiler brake light to illuminate.

Done

I ended up unplugging the third brake light harness and then sticking in the bare wire into the harness. I want to get something a little more secure because right now they're just hanging in there.

Hey greenmonster, nice to here from another local Boston/Worc/Prov member. Let's hope Schilling has his game hat on today!

I've been meaning to replace that ugly frame with a custom frame but procrastinating as usual. I thought I heard of a site twogirls.com or something like that where they sold license plate frames. I just brought up twogirls.com and it’s a girly site. Yike, I did this at work

There are a couple of places I've heard about. Do a search here, I think Juniorbean was in the discussion about plate frames, so if you turn up too many search results, limit it to his membername.

Juniorbean also has a carparts website, so he might have something.

I stumbled apon this site on an non-acura forum.

http://www.dakotaengraving.com/

They do custom laser engraved licence plate frames. I've never bought from them, but figured I'd mention it.

phew...this is a couple of weeks old, but I figured I provide my input.

basically I unplugged the harness for the third brake light which disables the light. No need to pull the bulb. I used some "tap splices" to connect the black & red wires from the wing to the actual wires on the third break light.

they look like this:

chikai - I was holding off doing it this way thinking I could buy a harness and solder in the wing wires and then plug it into the power harness. I havn't had any luck finding a harness that will fit. I'm not sure this is a sellable part online. I may be forced to "splice and tap" Thanks for the input.
