Depends...

One member went with the 235/45-17s on 17x8 +48 SSRs WITH Comptechs AND KONIS, and had a nasty rub problem in the front.

Others, with the same setup but NO Konis, said it works!

My take: it's a very, very close fit (the question is how close -- and I don't know)

YMMV

well...
I've got 235/45 17's on the stock rims (Yokohama AVS dB's) with no issue whatsoever. Also have the Comptech Springs, Konis, and Sways as well.

That was me...the rubbing *sounded* really terrible but didn't do any visible damage to the tires. However, I could see on the upper portion of both front wheel wells where the plastic was worn down about about 1/16" from contact with the wheel. It only happened during sharp cornering over slightly rutted surfaces, but it was enough to compel me to dump the 235s in favor of 225s.

As Eric says, YMMV...

If you had a look at the same tires from the back (of the car) on 7" (stock), 7.5", and 8” rims, you would know why the 235s work on stock rims (with your setup) and *can* have problems on 8" wide rims, regardless of offset!

No... And the more input I get hear about ride issues, the more I think I'll stick with my SUV look and just pop on 245/40-17 T1S Proxies when I wear the current ones out.

I'm not lowered (I do prefer the look of the Comptech's) and the car sticks well enough to get a ticket (and jail time) without squealing the tires...

(Guess, I'm getting old from too many 3" drops with Konis set to rock hard... )

BTW -- I would consider a 1" - 1.5" drop with Bilstein equivalents when the current springs and shocks take a hike (I can wish, hey?)

--end of the long answer--

-- hope follows --

(I know someone with 17x7.5" +52 wheels with the 235/45-17 Toyos + Comptech Springs [no Konis] and they do NOT rub!)
