Whiners
Whiners
This is my plea for CL owners to stop whining about things such as I have read about on this forum. Things like 1st-2nd shift quirkiness, transmission problems, stereo, or losing races to Mustangs, etc.
If you don’t like the way the transmission shifts you should have gotten a car with a manual transmission. If you were serious about racing you would have.
The transmission problems could be from the treatment received from the owner. It could be a design flaw. It is your choice to keep the car or sell it. If you are going to keep it after you have had 2 or more transmissions in it, what does that say about you?
The stereo is a bit underpowered but it isn’t all that bad. It would be nice to be able to put an aftermarket unit in, and I have read that some of you have, but I think it may be more trouble than it is worth. If there is a way to add more punch to the existing system let me know. That is all I would do to it.
This is a really nice car that is fast but it is not an American muscle car. Loosing to Mustangs is a no-brainer. While the Mustang and the Type S have the same horsepower, the Mustang has greater torque and rear wheel drive. Torque is required to get things moving. When a car moves the weight is transferred rearward. A great place to place the driving wheels. This is a major disadvantage for a front wheel drive car. Unless Acura makes a rear wheel drive CL or changes the laws of physics, you can expect to continue to lose against Mustangs.
This is my first import as suggested by my screen name. I am very impressed by this car. This level of refinement is almost unattainable by US iron. We are very lucky to have our CLs.

I have no problems killing stangs.
and I too was fine w/ the speakers, just need a little thump so added a small sub in a box to the trunk.
Not too loud where people can hear it outside but loud enough for me inside.
