Interesting. Let's hope that holds true. However, it does seem to be a big departure for Honda. They've never been one to "compete" with anyone. They just do their own thing. We'll see.

Wow.. so next gen V-6 Accords gonna have more hp than 2001 Acura Cl and TL.. reminds me of Altima one-upping the Maxima and I30. Wonder how long it will take before we see an increase in hp for the CL and TL.. any speculation guys? And how much will it be increased?

Yea, I think it's time for Honda to upgrade their Accord, in order to compete with Altima. They should put a manual transition on the Accord as well, just to improve the selling number.

i have a feeling that the tl/cl is gonna see a displacement increase to 3.5.

i guess the camry isn't getting a big head start either...the article says the accord should be here in fall.

i think honda/acura realized that they do have to start competing considering what happened to acura when they thought they were the shit...everyone caught up and passed them.

I thought Accord competed with Maxima, not Altima?

yeah, I saw the new 240hp 3.5 V6 Altima up close and personal at the NY auto show... gotta say, it is one fine car... one of my friends has the 01 altima SE, and he is already drooling, and ready to trade in for the new rocket...

It did, but Nissan is moving the Altima upmarket making it a tad larger than the Accord/Maxima/Camry and giving it the most hp in its class (for a little while anyways). The Maxima is apparently going even more upmarket Where it's going I don't know, because if it gets too much more upmarket then its sales will suffer because it's not sold with a luxury nameplate.

This is all very confusing!!!
