Whats your top speed?
Whats your top speed?
The other day i hit 126 in my 01 cl type s, i seemed to do it with ease, the car seemed ready for more. So i'm curious what all of your top speeds are in your cl's or just in general.

As for me, I'm not rich, nor do I have any kids, but I've been through it once already and believe me, it's a lesson I'll never forget.

If that's what the cockpit looked like after a 135 mph crash, Acuras are probably the safest cars in the world
Tell us the story behind it.

Well...to make the long story short, it was 4:30 am and I started to floor it during the freeway onramp to see how far I can take it. A 60mph turn was comming up and instead of flooring the brakes, I decided to feather it instead...taking up the entire 4 lanes (inside-outside-inside) like you would in a race track. Well...here's where the debate starts (last time I told the story)...but the overall concensus for the 180 spin during mid turn could be a factor of many things.
Road condition not perfect + those little reflective dots mid lane.
Bald rear tires, New front tires + Michelins
Overly stiff rear sway bar.
Braked at the WRONG time.
Approach line wasn't perfect.
Either way the list goes on and on. The bottom line is that all that happened FOR WHAT exactly?! The reasons were very foolish, and looking back, I'd never do it again. :spankme:

limiter is around 150. lets just say a cls can not hang around at those speeds for long. but i know what you mean about building up very fast. i asked before how fast we could theoretically go up to, and i think someone said physics wouldnt allow for more than 160. i still think somewhere below 170 but then again, why the hell would you even want to approach those speeds?
if one thing goes wrong, forget the brakes, youre screwed!!
ever looked at the braking times for 60-0 to 80-0. the difference in feet will shock you for only 20 mph difference. now imagine the multiplication factor when you 80 mph difference.

i was goin down this long straight highway with kinda rolling hills... they were low enough so i could see ahead for miles and as i came over the one hill the revs came up and so did the speedo... thats when i backed off... it was either 140 or 145... i'd like to try it again now that my car is lowered... and then again, maybe not... once was enough...

I do routinely hit 100-110 on my commute home from work when traffic clears up and I have to get around a train (caused by a left lane bandit).
So at what speed does the moon roof start letting in air for you guys? I think mine can withstand 110-115 before it starts leaking alot.
A manager of mine once said that his C5 convertible @ 140, his windows would start bending out.

Had my 03 & the 02 I had up to the limit of 149, or at least till it wouldn't go anymore. I don't advise this unless you are an experienced driver with lots of time behind the wheel.
145 out on I-10(going to ABQ) in the middle of bum fuck. traffic was lite and clear for miles. it got the heart pumping like hell. not sure i'd do it again though, especially after my accident on the 10th
But i'm still fairly young and pretty dumb so you never know

I've been really close to 150 in my old starion. It was about 147-148 it didnt touch the 150 line. this was on 95 going south, i was playing with a mustang and a camaro.I would never do it again, well on my 2.2 i could only touch 115.

Was limited by fuel cutoff which I think is at a true 147mph.
