I love my CL and would buy it again. I'd stay away from the automatics due to the tranny problems if I were you

i'm pretty sure that mostly everyone that has bought an '01 CL-S is happy with it. The only real problem is the weak tranny, but as long as you're under 100k miles, you're covered by Acura. Personally, I'd pick up a stick over any auto any day, but if it fits your budget and you like the "PDG" color, more power to you. Personally, that color's a little too loud for me, but i've seen a few and it does look good in person.

I have an 01 ABP CL=S and I love it. I'm the original owner and have almost 60,000 miles and haven't had any problems with my tranny (knock on wood).
I plan to drive it for another 5 years at least.

I was really happy with mine till the tranny failed (01-CLS). I now have the 03 6MT and it is much more fun to drive. Get the stick.

Sorry, but all you people complaining about the tranny, I just havent seen such an ongoing problem with mine. I have a 2000 Acura TL, tranny replaced once at 90,000 and its been absolutely perfect and I have 130,000 on it now.

I also have a 2001 Acura CL-S, tranny replaced at 65,000 and its been one of the smoothest shifting cars I have driven, and now it has 95,000 miles on it.

So yes, initially there were some kinks to be worked out, but overall, Acura seems to have got it right when fixing the problem the second time around.

P.S, I love my CL-S, I drive on the highways, and I can say it has an amazing mix of road handling with my mods, high speed ability, trunk space, Gas Mileage, Acceleration, saftey in bad weather, and quietness that I look for.

Your like, Ok a Rear wheel drive is better for high speed, handling and Acceleration, but then you lose gas mileage and safety.

Then with an AWD car, you run into the same situation, and you especially take a hit on the gas mileage. Hope this HELPS.

If you like the gold go for it, not too many of those around, but I, as many others here, prefer the 6speed. I know 90% of US drivers want automatics.
I held off buying a CLS because I wanted a shifter.

I coulnd't agree more although I haven't had any tranny problems to date. 65K+ miles and still going strong. I also use my sport shift ALL THE TIME. Around town, I'm between 2nd/3rd a lot and haven't seen any problems. If I'm not mistaken, I have an early production '01 as well.

Yep, it's an '01 NBP CL-S and I love the car. If I had the chance, I'd buy another one. That's a pretty damn good price too, especially for the milage. I wouldn't sell mine for that cheap and I'll bet you that PDG car is in better shape than mine. Good luck!

I have a NBP 01 CL-s auto ... there is absolutley nothing that can touch the CL-s for the money my friend,(all its options for under 20,000 (CDN)) nothing out there like it in terms of RARITY (nobody wants to see another accord or 325i on the road) the tranny in the autos is weak...but mines comes with powertrain until feb 2008 - so make sure where you pick it up from you get as FAR of an extended warrenty on the tranny as possible (if you go auto....but ...6 speed is MUCH better)..
Love my CL - i wish i had one in every colour like my nike dunks
Take the auto for a test drive and as it switchs gears just feel for hard jerking or anything else that feels off..
I always wondered why the didnt sell a million of em.....*COUGH tranny COUGH*......hey and i bought one with NO AT fluid or Brake fluid........might wanna look at all that stuff too =).....EMBRACE CL MY FRIEND

Awesome price for it. It's a shame the resale value didn't hold.

Talking

I love my CL-P. With the mods I have, it scoots like I want it too. Retail value sucks though. I'm keeping it until it dies.

Love my '03 CL S auto but should have gotten the stick...best front wheel drive cruiser on the road...only cars I would rather have are the G35 or 330ci and only b/c they're RWD and handle better but the CL-S w/ slight mods are faster in a straight line and have a much better ride

I've loved my car since the day I bought it. I had the tranny go out...no big deal, Acura took care of it, fixed the problem and it's been perfect ever sincce. Going on 60k now.
