What's for you after your CL ?
I don't know about you guys but I sure had enough of this Honda.
Overall the car is good, but since we had all this other minor problems, I think I'll skip Honda/Acura if I were going to buy my next car.
I opened this topic up coz I saw you guys were complaining about this car alot on the "My gripes" topic, and especially I had alot of problems after I bought this car (Check my signature).
any thoughts ?
------------------
2001 Acura CL Type-S. Blk/Blk w/Navi, Spoiler, PIAA Platinum Series Super White High Beams, PIAA 19169 Platinum Super White Wedge Bulbs, 20% / 5% tints.
So far four door dings, two on each side, DVD Navigation System Unit replaced, Both Driver and Passenger side seat back fell off, Metal piece inside of the wiper came out, planning to replace both wipers and wind shield next week.

Don't get me wrong though, I love the S4 and wanted one long before I bought the CL. At this point now I'm just not convinced it's the right path to take. Maybe when the 2003 S4 V8 comes...

Time frame... 1... 2 yrs from now at most.
Assuming I can buy something in the next year...
Optimistically:
Lexus SC430
Porsche 911
Realistically:
Lexus GS430
BMW M3 w/ F1 tranny
BMW X5 4.4i
Imperfect world:
BMW 330Ci
I would go for another Acura if they did like Emeril and "kicked it up a notch" but until I hear Acura say "BAM!" their still just a DAMN GOOD entry level company... and we own a car that cant be beat in its class.
So if and when I get rid of it... Im gonna make sure its for a car of a higher level... cuz like I said... I already have the best damn car in its respective level.

unless I hit a jackpot!

Either a BMW 3-series or a vehicle yet to be seen. No one here would have said 5 years ago that they were going to get the 2001 Acura CL or the Lexus IS300. I bet there's going to be something coming out in 2 or 3 years that will generate a least as much excitement as the CL has.

I'll buy another Honda/Acura product--I've owned 13 so far. Just hope Acura does in fact, build a car that will hold my attention. An absolute top level personal sports coupe, manual tranny, AWD? and of course more power would do it. Just don't make the thing look so damn GMC-ish like they did on this cl-s of mine. This year I'm getting a s2000.

rurofan..............four door dings, "two on each side" are Honda problems?? I understand your frustration with the navi system replacement, but to put door dings and wipers down as problems seems kind of dumb. Maybe you need to visit Audiworld, Mustang Cobraworld, GM world or BMW world to see some other real problems--like engine or tranny failures!! As for the seat backs, if you read any reviews before buying you would have seen that this was a fairly common, easily fixed early production glitch. My driver's side back did the same and was easily fixed by a new back panel with better clips. No big deal--not like I was stranded or anything. You will be hard pressed to find an auto line with fewer overall mechanical problems than Honda/Acura. That said, I may visit BMW M3 world and take my chances, but for now I'm enjoying my CL-S.

i'm still sour from the way my dealer treated me concerning the nav system update and my $100 rebate (i gave up a clk430 for this car, and this is how i'm treated?!?)...so as of right now no more acura for me.
still waiting for the next mb sl-series.
but who knows...in 5 years, i may need a minivan for the wife and kids.

The reason I put it down is because I want people to know the "Good" and also "Bad" about my car. To share my experience with you people.
I didn't blame the dings on Honda, but the wiper blades really IS Honda's fault. you can't believe how far the metal piece stick out and scratched my wind shield.
My last car was a Civic, for its 55,000 miles I've NEVER had a problem with it. compare to our 30K car ? I would've bought another Civic if I knew these would happen.

Well the CL was my first car, and I LOVE it.
Rurofan, u think u had problems, i had 5 flats, my radio went, needed new radio which was on back order for 4 months, 2 cracked rims, and a new bumber..75 % was my fault, but the rattles and minor panel off-linement dont even bother me cuz i know the car will be with me for 200,000+ mile, well atleast I hope it does. I got 4 and a half more years to pay it off and got 20K miles on it. My next car is gonna be a honda/acura but gotta be 4wd or rwd and stick, hopefully it will be what shawn s said. I bought the car to have it for awile, and im still happy, It seems like u let too much little $hit bother you, and thats not cool, no car is PERFECT,
just like no HUMAN is perfect so just live with it..

I'm thinking MB CLK. Also, depends on what the CL line is doing then. If the 6 series is coming back, then that's definitely on the radar. Then again the Nissan Z will be here by then also. It's a great time for car enthusiasts...

Life after the CL... Well, I'll probably keep this car for seven years or so... so maybe a hardtop convertible like the Mercedes SLK series. I wouldn't mind having a MB V8 under the hood. Who knows what anyone will have out in 2006. Chrysler could clean up their act and start making good cars. Same with GM and Ford. I won't rule out any car as of yet.

Depending on my options trading success, I'm either in a GS430 or, if really successful, an M5. But gotta hang on to the CL for at least 4 more years.

Hmm... Are you a trader? I have some Exxon shares from 1996 (HS graduation gift). I was hoping for some stock in Lockheed for college grad Oh well.
I'm thinking of holding on to these for thirty years or so.
I have a hunch... with all this electrical stuff going on in California, I was thinking about getting ahold of some electric company stock. What do you think? Right now is when I should take risks... not when I have a family. Sorry son, forget about MIT... The electric company blew up.
What about the future of the Lincoln LS? That car has real potential. Stick a full 5.0L, a shifter like the Type S and that would be one heck of a machine. Seriously... something with the power of a Mustang Cobra, and the performance of a BMW. For around $40,000, Ford/Lincoln would have the market cornered.

Definitely another Acura. My CL-S is one of the first made. Pre 3000. Don't remember the exact number off the top of my head. With the exception of the sun roof noise problem, that has been corrected by the factory fix, I have had no other problems. What can I say, I've been blessed. Four or five years from now, I may feel different. I doubt it.
