what's the worst thing that can happen if i have...
i have a 91 civic with bad valve guides and piston rings, broken cv boots (both of them), and a holy muffler. i'm desperately looking for a reason to buy a new car, but still can't afford the insurance. but if i "NEED" a new car, my parents will help with the insurance. my main concern with my civic is that will it be safe on the road, or can the engine catch on fire or something. any help or advise would be great. thanks guys.

Um.......... this is a CL board. Insurance on a CL will be alot higher than a Civic. Call your insurance up and they will give oyu a quote on the insurance. Mine went up $400/year from a 98 Accord EX.
Also bear in mind the price of gas.
Civic 10 gallons of unleaded $1.35 at 35 mpg
CL-S 10 gallons of super at $1.65 at 27 mpg
Big big difference. Hope this helps..

No. Your car will not catch on fire because of holy mufflers. HeHe! With bad valve guides and rings you would be burning lots of oil and perhaps smoking out the tailpipe. Insurance will go way high on CL-S if thats what your interested in. There are plenty of good used Hondas out there in decent shape for reasonable prices so start looking!
