whats so good about the nsx?
why are they so expensive?
i know it handles, but is that ALL??
its hardly even fast!
i think its a joke,
i got tired of the looks in 1992, its 10 years later now..whats so special about it? a decade later they still be asking for 130k canadian..
why does acura think they can charge so much for that junk?
which fools pay 130k for that?
sorry, need to vent.
maybe if the car was around 40k u.s. i would consider it, even with its decade old looks...
am i the only person here that only likes the CL/TL/MDX from acura?
i think all their other cars suck... i mean, the TL-S SHOULDNT be nicer/faster than a new RL...doesnt make sense to me.
its funny how i can hate every acura, but on the other hand love to death my own CL-S...

Dude, did you just call the NSX junk? Man if I had 90,000 to spend on a sports car, the first car I'd look at would be an NSX. And the styling? So what if it is ten years old; its still better looking than almost all other cars out there.
Substitute "NSX" with "Porsche 911" in your rant. "What's so good about the 911? I know it handles, but is that all? It's not THAT fast! Who would pay 70-90k for that junk?' That's just doesn't make sense Amir. Maybe you should drive an NSX.
Oh yeah, I consider 0-60 in under 5 sec. and the quarter in the low 13s pretty damn fast. And to say that the NSX just "handles" is an understatement.

I'd say the NSX is pretty fast, especially for a normal aspirated V6 engine. To run high 12's in the quarter mile is pretty respectable, don't you think? Of course you can find faster cars that are cheaper, but the NSX is also sorta exotic looking.
The look may be starting to age, but the car still turns heads.
Plus, isn't the entire car made out of a lightweight alloy?
Where the hell are you getting $130,000 for an NSX?
Even a new 2002 NSX is about $90,000

i would classify the nsx with the supra, rx7, 300zx, and bmw 8 series...
all classic oldies that were great on their own terms..
the nsx just doesnt wanna go away.
if acura were to discontinue it in 97 it would have been a legend...
now its just a joke

Depends on which year NSX you're talking about. Most of them run low 13's. But I remember reading a road test in Car and Driver that they got running into the high 12's. I believe it was a 98 or 99 model. I dunno about the newer years though.....

And I'm not comparing Porsche to Acura; I'm just saying that whatever you said about the NSX can be said about a 911. Is the 911 a waste of money also?
By the way, I think 911 vs. NSX is a pretty good comparison.

well i agree... i dunno that considering the relatively unchanged looks for 10 yrs and the subpar interior it is still worth all the dough.
but it is a WONDERFUL car.
It is arguably better then the current 911 without a doubt. It outhandles most cars out there, looks more exotic, and is hand built.
I also think the slight exterior changes for this year make a HUGE difference. It looks very exotic... especially when you see the old vs new next to each other or in person.
It does need a lil aftermarket help. but hey.
Either way... I wouldnt pay the money, but I do think its a great car.
I remember in a comparo just a few years back, Mario Andretti himself claimed it the best feeling/handling car over the competitors which included 911s, ferraris, vipers, and vettes.

Can i get in on this one?... thanx
What amir said makes perfect sense and he's just thinking logically. To pay almost $100k for a car which really hasnt changed in 10 yrs is asking a bit much from the buyer, to say the least. The comparison between that red early 90s nsx and 2002 models that TOM2 brought up really arent that different, except the rims, headlights and a little face lift,... otherwise the body is EXACTLY the same - tho the facelift has certainly made a world of difference. Think of it as a little butox for that over-the-hill woman who's tryin to look young.
BUT - the nsx is no trash and can hold its own. If i had $90k to spend on a car, then nsx would definetly be my choice. All of them are HANDMADE in the highest stadard and the body is almost all aluminum, which cant be said of many cars. The stying, even tho 10 yrs old, still gives me goosebumps everytime i see one on the road... WHICH ISNT VERY OFTEN!... compared to porsches which are like a road-virus, and look like vw beetle to me and most of the time u cant even tell the difference between the boxer, carrera or the top-end if u saw it from the front. The turbos look nice with their wings but otherwise they're a big YAWN. IMO
That said nsx really doesnt have a direct competition in terms of price, style, exclusivity, ALL AROUND handling and other such feats. LOTUS had something goin back in the days and they're still selling their dated junk for about the same price as an nsx. (maybe i shouldnt call them JUNK, that would be hypocritical of me
So it all comes down to the the luv for the car... nsx is one of those cars which u either luv or wouldnt give a rat's ass about. And i'm certainly one of those who thinks the car totally ROCKS!
And oh yea... did i mention its an "exotic" which can be driven as easily as a CIVIC on daily basis??

Only way I would even consider an NSX is if I were driving it real often, almost as a daily driver. If I was choosing a toy, I would take my Viper GTS all day long over the current NSX (driven a bunch of them, the shit eating grin factor is on a different level with the Viper.....there is no comparison IMHO).
The Carrera 4S is $10k cheaper than the NSX- MSRP vs. MSRP......granted, its not as fast (but its a hot car).

Anyone that would come on here and dog the NSX, is someone that doesn't appreciate the finer things in life. He is a minimum wage type of guy that could never earn the type of money to buy one of the best cutting edge technology sports-cars in the World.
"I try not to covet material things. I try not to be envious of rich people. When I've gotten expensive cars for a few days to take pictures, I've always been relieved to give them back. $85,000 of sheet metal is a burden. But if I had $85,000 to spare, I would rush out and buy an NSX. It is a bargain. I never thought I would say that about an $85,000 car, but it is.
"What's an NSX?" all of my New York friends asked. "It's like a Ferrari, but engineered by people who went to college."

Where is my super sauce?
Umm...the looks might be 'dated' but it is still a nice classy look.
You could say the same for Porsche 911/Carerra/etc. The look hasn't radically changed since the 1960's. Somewhat modernized, but still the same look.
You could probably also say the same for a Ferrari and many other exotics.
It fact, with respect to Porsche, I remember a year or two ago they had an advertising campaign that showed how 'timeless' their style is. They were highlighting the Porsche DOOR and showing how they have not changed the shape of the door in many decades.
I wouldn't complain if I had any of these cars.

Cost Drivers!!!!
Amir,
You are who you are because you ask questions like this. :shakehd:
Do i need to show you videos of the Ferrari 360 spider losing to the the NSX???????????
The car from the ground up is completely and i mean completely hand built. ONe engineer builds the entire engine!
Shame on you for asking such a question. Go smoke some more dope....

I love the NSX- Camaro? come on
Comparing an NSX to a Camaro??? in looks or any other way is ridiculously ignorant. Camaros... the first one was ok for it's time, now they're a joke really. or most anything Detroit throws together. Detroit has been building cars for over 100 years and the current Monte Carlo (seen that atrocity?), Pontiacs, Saturns, and the rest of the ilk is the best they can do? It's offensive that that's what GM offers. It's sad for buyers who have to buy those cars, better could be built at decent prices but people seem to keep buying the crap. I'd love to buy American but why should I support inferior products?
Well comparing the NSX to a Camaro is like a Yugo to a Mercedes.
I guess if you're 18 and horny anything looks good. Yea I don't like Mustangs either except the 65 and I don't like the Viper either. It's seems so obvious to me the inferior quality and design of most domestic cars. I'm so thankful I have the option not to buy what Detriot offers. thanks I feel better.

i personally think it is too expensive..at it is the most expensive japanese pure sports cars... but it has full aluminum body..mid engine and C32BVTEC engine..with 6 manual speed... the brand new price of nsx is almost double price of a brand new supra TT ..i will go for supra if i have money

Hey ya'll. This month's issue of Road and Track (with the future Vette on the cover) has an owner's survey of the NSX. Overall, the people loved the car as it was fast and a RELIABLE, hated the re-sale value and the only big wish was a V-8!
I think when it was 60k it was a value, at 90k, MASERATI please, a new 996 4WS (widebody), hell the Z06 is 60k.
Though, RELIABILITY is a huge factor to me, and that is the NSX selling point. IT is a BALANCED car, not the fastest, not the best handling but like the "Scottie Pippen" of sports cars, overlooked but always a MVP candidate (well when he played for the Bulls, lol)...
THis makes a good point about the NSX. Rolex watches are not NEAR the best watches, but cause of the name, people know em and buy em.

Rolex watches are basiclly the same today as they were many decades ago but they still look fly as hell today

for having "basically" the same look...well...like they say...
"if its not broken, dont fix it"
and you also have to look at the reliability....the NSX out of all the exotic cars is the most reliable, cheapest BY FAR to upkeep...you can still go the local acura dealer for an oil change....
Of course I am not knocking the modena or lambo...they are awesome, no doubt.....but 3k for an oil change and tune up..(which I know for fact since I went with friend that has one get it) if kinda high. With only a few mods as well...the NSX I would take.
Sure for the same price you can get the Ferrari, but remember, there is a difference in "being able to buy one, and afford one"
NSX rocks.

NSX is way too $$
I'd defeintly take the 4S 911 over it any day...
No comparison in my book, NSX is outdated...
And for $90K for NSX, spend the extra $10k and get a Ford GT40
ya the NSX is hand made. It still needs a stronger engine for $90k. And you can't really mod the thing much past 450hp without nitrous or fuel over 94 octane.
$80k Porsche vs. $90k Honda
320hp vs. 290hp
And the 4S is 4wd easy choice for me.
