hehe. ya thats what I thought. I got a ticket going 105 in a 55 on 355 here in chicago. It cost me $250 but I got supervison because of my lawyer.

The cop brought the radar gun to my window and just showed me. Then he went back and wrote up a ticket. He was just a little pissed.

What's the nastiest ticket I avoided or got?

Nastiest I recieved:
Was in the "OVER 30MPH OR HIGHER" ticket on the NJ Turnpike. I had my Mitsu GSX well, let's say, up there. The trooper did not have radar on me but gave me reckless driving instead cuz he told me THAT would definitely stick better in court. My lawyer got me down to the 15+ over the speed limit, 2 points but like $400ish fine cuz he included "Obstruction of Traffic". Just goes to show that it's all about the money.

Nastiest ticket I dodged:
130mph on the Garden State Parkway. If I was not like five minutes from my house it was going to be impounded. My passenger's mother was engaged to the chief of police in Woodbridge (Town we live in). My only saving grace. Ironically, HE got pulled over in his Firebird for 145 a week later with me as the passenger going down to six flags and the mommy-captain of the PD relationship worked again.

I have 8 points plus 2 pending, I'm driving a lot better now.

I got one for 65 in a school zone which was 20 mph. Good thing I knew a judge that fixed it for me. I don't even want to know how much that would have been. I have a friend who's brother has a beefed up integra that got clocked going 140...I think the speed limit was 55 or 65. The cop told him to walk back to his car and look at the radar gun. Then the cop just said ..F#$K I didn't know these dam things could go that fast...they BS for a while and then the cop LET HIM GO!! The guy worked at a juvy jail so that might of helped.

Me driving my modded 90Si and my dad modded 98 subaru legacy gt. We got caught racing on 45 zone doing 70-75, and i pulled 2.5 carlengths on my dad subaru. We both got caught by speeding, and the funny thing is that the cop citate by drag racing not speeding. Well i paid 120 for the schooling but my dad paid i think 80 bucks but he got a record he didn't want to go schooling..Well so far my CL-S has no record knock on wood...

My worst ticket was also on the Florida Turnpike. I hate that road, it's so tempting to speed on it, but there's always FHP hiding somewhere. 108 in a 65, $278. Plus another ticket for not using caution on a wet road, $78, bullshit, the road wasn't even wet. She kept saying she should take me in for wreckless driving, I hate FHP. Those two are still in court, hopefully it'll come out somewhat cheaper for me going that route.

I've only had one ticket so far (49 in a 30), but two of my buddies were racing their Integras down I-595 at about 1:00am. The cop paced them at 105 (he later said that's as fast as his older Impala would go) but that he knew they were going faster since their taillights were getting smaller. The actual speed was about 130. Tickets: $520 each. $260 for 30+ over the limit, then doubled because the area was considered a construction zone. One of my buddies had a suspended license at the time but talked his way out of going to jail (as he's ALWAYS able to for some reason).

I flipped my car 2.5 times and it skidded about 75 or so feet on its roof. I was doing about 85-90 and lost it in a Civic. After I crawled out of the car on my hands and knees, the cop who showed up gave me a reckless driving ticket and a driver inattention ticket. I forgot how much it ended up being. I don't think he appreciated that fact that I was still alive. I was 16 at the time. My parents kicked my ass.

About 6 months ago me and my friend took a couple of ladies out in the CL-s to a club calld power studios in dwntwn miami. Anyways, coming home from the club at like 3 am on Us-1 I was all over her, she was all over me, ontop of the console (thank god the e-brake is on the floor) and my friend the same in the back seat. Anywho, I was doing about 30 mph, swerving in my lane, and I get pulled over. The cop asked me home much I drank, I told him like 3-5 drinks. I was honest with him, and he decited to let me go, drunk! WOW is all I could remember. It sure impressed the ladies!!!!!!!!

I thought I was going to jail FOR SURE! The cop was cool as shit

i got nailed in my 93 legend in no carolina doing 92 in a 55
the cop made me sit in the car w/ him while my family waited. he gave me 2 tix, speeding and wreckless+dangerous for the excessive speed.(my 9 yr old son says to my wife, lets get out of here).
i had to post bond and hire a lawyer. the cop introduced me to him at the courthouse. i think they must have been cousins. what a racket, $400 for the lawyer and $90 for court costs after pleading down to 72 in a 55.
watch ur ass in little towns.

In 1989, got a $750.00 ticket for drag racing in the street. (exhibition of speed) I raced for $2000.00 and won, so my profits were almost cut in half. In court I convinced the judge to letting me attend traffic school and taking one point off my record. What ever you guys do...don't get caught in Kern County, California. I heard it's $100.00 for every mile over the speed limit.

Comment...

They passed a law back a few years ago (sorry, forgot the name of the provision) and it allows "local" communities to impose their own schedule of additional fees and penalties to various classes of moving violations. Speeding has become big business, a local town may establish their own guidelines for how much over the limit you need to go, before you MUST appear. For example, some of the local communities MAY have anything from 15 MPH - 25 MPH over the speed limit as a "trip point" to prevent an offender from going to traffic school. In addition, the provision allows the jurisdiction to force the "violator" to appear in person -- a court appearance is mandatory. This same provision allows this same jurisdiction to impose additional fines as they see fit (YOU DID MENTION KERN COUNTY).

So, as a warning, many communities have set up "stricter" standards, and you may end up very surprised at the consequences of some traffic violations.

Finally, when you get stopped by the CHP, depending on the officer's good nature, they can write the ticket to have you end up in one jurisdiction (where you get to work for the next month to pay the bill for speeding), or if the officer is "nice", will write the ticket up for the less "greedy" city or county.

Sorry -- I forgot the name of the law provision, but I know that after the Northridge earthquake (in California), I got popped for doing something like 56 in a 35 zone (8 lane blvd in the San Fernando Valley [radar cop pulling over 1-4 people at a time]). I had to pay around three hundred dollars in a closed hearing room (a story in itself). I was told by an attorney that one of the unused provisions allowed the "county" to take your car away, in addition to the 'no traffic school' and administrative surcharge fees.

Watch were you speed in California!!!!!

Yep, I'm getting ready to have one installed. I am considering it as an "insurance policy."

EricL,

Good deal! At least it's a policy that is paid only once and not every 6 months or a year.

I got into an accident in my Eclipse at Northbrook, IL on one of the entrance ramps to 294. After having a FEW beers, I didn't make the turn and ended up in the grass. The police came by and asked how many drinks I had. I said one. They gave me the field sobriety test. Didn't know the result until the other officer asked what they should do with me. The officer then said take me to the station, write up a ticket, and call me a cab.
At the police station I was asked to blow on the breathalyzer. I refused at first, but he said it was unofficial. I failed miserably. At least he kept his word. He issued me 3 tickets (failure to avoid an accident, tints on the car, and failure to stay on the road) and called me a cab. Showed up to court late and paid $30 for a continuance. Next court date the officer didn't show up, got out of all 3 tickets.

I passed two cars over a double yellow at 11:15 at night. Cop was just coming out of a side road and followed behind me doing 90-95 MPH (Speed Limit was 40MPH going into 30.) It actually took him a while to get up to me, and I couldn't tell it was a cop till it was too late. Luckily happened in my town and the rookie cop made me go to the station where the Chief was there. Since I let this guy play golf every MOnday he called my parents made them pick me up and that was it. I'll consider my self lucky and never speed at NIGHT again.

Okay, after reading all this, I guess I am a little lucky.

(In my pre-speeding ticket days)
1. Speeding on 101N, 120+ in the 540 racing a Ferrari. He gave up at 110. No cops.
2. Had ONE beer, but was very sleepy, hit the 880N to 101N exit at 80mph (slowed to about 60). Well that turn was an unposted, dark blind hairpin turn which I never had taken, and it's presently posted at 15mph! I ended up sliding down the side of the hill and on the exit ramp of 101. No cops.
3. Doing 115 on 280S, two friends drunk in the car (I'm sober). Cop was trailing me off and on for 15 minutes! Pulled me over, gave me the drunk test (I passed), said I should be arrested, but let me go! (Yeah!)
4. Doing 80 in a 65 (construction zone), double the fines, forget how much though. This is AFTER I was following a pack of racers from FAR behind who were swerving in and out of traffic, and I'm the stupid dumbass who gets busted! Traffic school erased this one.
4. Doing 83 in a 65, get busted right before my exit home. Cop comments, "Nice car" and hands me the cheap ticket. Ass. Traffic school can't erase since it's only 6 months apart! Damn!

(post speeding days) Too careful now, V1 saves me, don't go over 100 (much )

This happened to me like 2 weeks ago during Memorial Day weekend. I was down in Wildwood with my wife. I got pulled over for noise violation. The fvcking ticket is $150.00 but I am going to fight it. My court date is June 27th @ 7 pm. The funny shit was that there were a million other cars with their system pumping and I got caught. I am pretty sure a few other cars got pulled over also but I am fighting my ticket.
BTW, I was in the car with my friend when he got caught doing 110 mph on I-95N in Georgia. The speeding ticket was $270. Thank god I wasn't driving.

60 in a 35.
No insurance.
No seatbelt.
No front plate.
Over $800 dollars in fines on one ticket.

I had insurance, but took too long to find.
Had my seat belt on.
Front plate, gimme a break!

Judge agreed that the officer was giving me a 'hard time' and dropped it down to a 45 in a 35.

But, as of now... "clean record!".

i got a speeding ticket doin 80 in a 55 zone in conn on my way to school on the 4th of july. should have been watchin teh speed especially since it was the holiday, but i wasnt and as i came around a bend at exit 69 in conn, my radar detector went off on laser adn as i squinted and looked down the street, i saw a cop car that was gettin off the side of the road and gettin ready to pull me over. The cop was such a ashole that he only reduced the tix from 81 to 80 after i showed him a police benevolence badge. well teh tix cost me 250 which was a weeks pay for me at the time (in college) and thank g-d, since i paid it in full, i didnt get any points on my NY license,
