What's Hot And What's Not About Your Car...

I like 2 things about my car equally; the interior and how peppy it is. What I dislike the most is how easy the paint chips.

Hey Bill, I knew there was something I forgot. I almost didn't buy the car because it didn't have those side moldings. I was told that it would've ruined the styling. Now I park a mile away in the parking lot where ever I go. Drives my wife Crazy!

I know, me too! Even so I still get dings from the idiots that just don't care. I even went so far as to get 0 deductable insurance so when it gets dinged I can get it fixed. Now in the right light the car looks as if it has a bunch of patches on it.

quick question for the '03 Autos.

Do you feel a slight "shutter" of the car when you release the gas pedal around speeds of 40mph? I feel the car kinda lurch forward a tiny bit after letting go of the pedal around that speed. I think the car is in the 3rd gear, which I think was the problematic gear for the tranny issue. I can't figure out what is wrong and some Acura tech said it was the torque converter locking and unlocking. I think its B.S., cuz no other car I've driven (including loaner Acuras) has done that before. It feels so annoying to get lurched forward in your seat after accelerating.

Yeah, I've got a 03' auto and I have noticed what your talking about occasionally on the freeway just before (I think) the tranny is warmed up. The first time it happened I thought it was a early sign of a bad tranny but I've only felt it a handful of times. Definitely not a reassuring feeling

I had that problem in my 2003 CL-S when I first got it. But it doesn't seem to do that any longer. My 2003 TL-S never had the problem.

Yea, its pretty annoying. I think it might have something to do with the beefed up 3rd gear clutch packs possibly. I just always notice my damn car shuttering around speeds of 40mph!

I have a 2001, and I've experienced the samething..

Right around 40-45mph (which is average posted speed limit around my area). I usually speed up to that speed, and then release the gas pedal. The "shuttering" will occure at least one out of every three times.

Has anyone had problems with their transmission? I have a 2003 CL 'S' with just over 8K on it. I have had no problems. I did, however, meet one fellow who had his car for 3 months and the transmission went out (he had an '02 CL 'S'). He told me that quite a few of the 01's and 02's had transmission problems.
The major reason I went back with Acura (I had a CL 2.3 before) is the reliability and service. Acura makes a good car. The G35 from Infinity and Nissan 350Z are too new (they haven't been field tested sufficiently), so I passed on them.

Did you read the subject?? You're new so I'll go easy, go back to the main Forums and you'll see a forum just for tranny issues.

The transmission issue may, and I say may have been corrected for 2003. I don't believe that many, if any members have had any problems yet.

Only bitch about my Type S is my fault...I am six foot four inches tall and I have to sit in a somewhat reclined position. This makes the steering wheel a tad further away than I would like. But fug it...I dig this car!
