You also need a cable to connect your car's computer to your laptop/PDA... There are 3 versions of the OBDII port, ours is ISO. I will be getting an ISO cable soon in order to integrate it to my computer setup that I have installed in my car.

Let me know what kind of software you guys end up using.

I've been looking around a bit, and managed to find a shareware program, but don't know how good it is. I'll have to evaluate what's available.

I've got the OBD-II scan software and cable from Auterra and it is really good. Plus free software upgrades for the life of the tool. You can display realtime data as well as read codes, reset the check engine light, etc. One of the better ones out there. Works awesome on my Sony Clie.

At the time I got it I think I paid $249 or $269. They're selling the one for the Sony Clie (the one I have) for $299 on their web site.
