What's the Best CAI?

Best Cold Air Intake for '03 CL-S 6 Speed?

AEM V1 (has to be Version 1, since V2 isn't available yet for TypeS)
Injen
Computech IceBox
Other?

If I am spending $200-$300 for CAI, I want to get the best bang for the buck....which one???

You'll find some good detailed answers by doing a search... but the quick answer is....

AEM and Injen will dyno about the same... which averages 6-8 HP at the wheel.

Comptech Icebox has dynoed slightly higher then the AEM and Injen. Is it worth the extra $100 or so? That's up to you. If you like the stock look and sound then the little extra power will be worth it. If you like the sound of a CAI (which I love), then you'd prefer the AEM/Injen.

I just took a co-worker for a ride in my car the other day, and when I hit vtec he goes "Man... that sounds awesome!". That's with the AEM.

I don't think there's a noticable difference. They pretty much just make the engine louder, same sounds, just louder.

I prefer the AEM.... just cause the sound.. when it hits VTEC .. its pretty nice... but my friend has comptech and it is a little more HP.. but i would choose the sound.. you can just get comptech headers.. for power Plus .. AEM looks better.

Long story. About 3 years ago we had a member named Chris who had a company that made intakes. They were called Xephyr. They were quite good and reasonably priced. They fit both the 6MT and the Auto (removable insert). However, for whatever reason, Chris went a little nutzoid and took a few members money without shipping air intakes. Needless to say, it got a little testy here and rightfully so. I, however, was one of the lucky ones he actually shipped it to. He also sent a bunch to Park Avenue Acura. After the "X" word became verboten, we referred to them as the PAA Intake. Capiche? Have I gotta send some of my Joisey boys to jog your memory..... J/K

The sound of the AEM is SWEET. When Bulldog01 and I are zipping around in our cars I DO like the sound of the AEM but I also like the stock look of the Icebox and most days I don't need to be that loud. I am guessing the gains are about the same...I didn't dyno before and after the Icebox so I can't say for sure. If you want to look cool when you pop the hood, go AEM. If you want to sound loud and angry, go AEM. If you like the stealth sleeper idea, go Comptech.
