I've heard nasty stories about Allstate and claims payment.

For example...

Hello my name is Richard McKinney I work for the Post Office in Cincinnati Ohio. I had the misfortune to be involved in an accident with someone who was insured by ALLSTATE. I was sitting at a red light when I was struck from behind and my car was pushed into the car stopped in front of me. My head hit the roof of my car and my head shoved back. I was knocked unconscious for a brief period. When I came to I didn't know what had happened. I asked my wife who was sitting in the passenger seat what happened and she said we were struck from behind. I could not get out of the car right away I went to move my legs and had to pick them up with my hands. After walking around the car and inspecting the damage I told the officer I think I am ok. Well I wasn't ok a short time latter I started to get sharp pains down my arms. I went to my family Doctor who examined me and did not find anything wrong with my arms and asked If I had been in any kind of an accident. I told him about the auto accident and he sent me for an MRI. Sure enough I had two herniated disc in my neck one really large and recommended immediate surgery. I called the ALLSTATE adjuster and Told her of my injuries she said that is ridicules you could not have got the injures in the accident and hung up the phone on me. I could not believe it I was in a state of shock. The surgery the surgeon recommended scared the hell out of me. He said he had to cut the disk out and drill a hole between C6 and C7 and take a bone from my hip and fuse the two disk together and take a steel plate and 4 bolts and bolt C6 and C7 together. He said I would never be able to move my head the same way again the surgery will probably make the pain in my neck worse. He told me it was something I would have to live with the rest of my life. He showed me the MRI my spinal cord was compressed to almost half it's regular size. he said if I did not have the surgery even a small bump of my head could paralyze me from the neck down. This was major surgery I tried to get a second opinion all the Doctors said the same thing. I tried treating with a chiropractor for 4 months which helped some but did not fix the problem. I was scared to death but after two years I finely had the surgery. The recovery time from the surgery was probably the worst time of my life. I was off work for 4 months. I had a large hard neck brace on for 3 months. I had to try and sleep sitting up in a chair I was unable to sleep the first month. I was unable to do anything but sit in a chair. I could not even read a book because the neck brace held my head in an upward position. My wife had to do every thing for me but the worst was the painful sleepless nights. I had 40,000.00 dollars of medical bills, off work for 4 months. ALLSTATE has not paid one penny they say I probably did all this damage in my sleep RIGHT! Despite the statements of four Doctors one of them there own Doctor who said the herniated disk was the result of the accident they refuse to pay one penny We are in a legal battle now that has ben going on for 5 years they think I will just go away. NO WAY AS LONG AS I HAVE A BREATH LEFT IN MY BODY I WILL FIGHT AND GET THE WORD OUT ABOUT THIS CRIMINAL COMPANY! Richard McKinney

I live her in SoCal and I have Wawanesa. Very satisfied, had Auto Club (AAA) for years but switching over, even with HIGHER coverage and same deductibles I saved $600 a year. I highly recommend them, I think they only insure cars in California and Oregon though, so if you live in another state you can't get insurance through them.

With personal experience in claims profession.... if you want to be really really taken care of fast.... the best service is AAA without a doubt. They are THE BEST.... service wise

In my opinion, Allstate adjusters are pretty good compared to Mercury's. the worst insurace company in CA is, without a doubt Bristol West/Coast National Insurance. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! this is a fact! all bodyshops in CA will not do business with them because they always ask for labor rates that were available in the early 90s. they take their sweet ass time to settle injury claims. they will make retarded offers for your injury claim. i could go on and on...

other pretty bad insurance companies :

Infinity insurance => good luck getting a return call
All smaller insurance companies that advertise on daytime TV. => horrible customer service. you really get what you paid for...

I am currently with State Farm. I had an accident in March and only received an increase of 1600.00. The claims people were extremely nice and didn't have a problem with helping me deal with the first real accident I had. Lucky for me there were no injuries, except to my wallet. I now pay $5500.00 a year to insure my CL-S. The insurance is cheaper than getting married, so I will stick with the insurance on the car.

Allstate rocks.....I have never had an issue with them.

Although, like Geico, they will drop you like a fly on horse shit quicker than other companies if you have some claims/tickets against you.

USAA

Best Insurance Co I ever had in my life, never any questions asked, settlements paid quick, service outstanding, and they always come to you. Trust me, I've been getting tickets and accidents in So Cal all my life so I have had been with many different Companies. If you have ever been affiliated with the military or have a relative who was, you may qualify, check it out it could be worth it.

Allstate. Our family has had Allstate since 65 and have had absolutely no problems with ANY of the claims that we have filed and as a matter of fact they have always been generous in the payoffs. My mother totaled our 94 civic last year and the blue book was around 4 grand they gave us 6 for it.

Geico is the worst for complaints. I have known 3 different people who have had Geico and gotten into accidents. They pay it off and then dropped them all.

Geico? Run like hell, man. I don't know if they still do this, but Car and Driver several years ago exposed Geico for taking part of your premium, buying radar guns and then donating them to police departments. That way, you could get a speeding ticket, and therefore fund you own next premium increase for getting a ticket!

I have Progressive. Full coverage. $949 a year.

Some insurance companys won't do business in MA, so our choices are somewhat limited here.

I have USAA - good company. Plus they give me money back nearly every year, about $100. But here in the MIA I pay $1356. I got no tickets since '97 and no claims since '01. Its just damned expensive here.

C'mon.

C'mon.

C'mon.

C'mon. You don't actually believe that do you?

C'mon.

I've been with GEICO since 1984 abouts.

They don't purchase radar guns for police departments. Which ones? Kansas State Troopers? Kansas City Police? The police are going to have radar guns no matter who is buying them [for them] anyway. Did you check to see where the IL State Police got their radar guns from...if Progressive "donated" a dozen to them back in 1991, would you quit Progressive and go sign up with State Farm? The police can't seem to catch me using radar and make the ticket stick anyway.

Kansas has a ticket diversion program that keep tickets off your record anyway.
GEICO has a ticket forgiveness program AND an accident forgiveness program for people who have been with them for 15 years like me.

GEICO has never raised my premium for no reason.
GEICO gives me a good drivers discount.
GEICO has always had the best rates for me.

Run like hell from GEICO? Who else do you suggest I run TO that has all of the above? The only people who repeat those rumors about GEICO are people who have been kicked out of GEICO or can't get in. They act like GEICO is the primary supplier of police radar in this country.

If anything, many many many years ago GEICO might have purchased some old X-band radar guns for testing or something and when they were done with them, probably gave them to the MD State Troopers. I'm supposed to cancel my sweet insurance policy in Kansas for that?

Sorry.

USAA is a great insurance company. They have offered great service, and the best prices.

And the great thing, when I become fully independent of my parents, I can maintain my USAA coverage!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have to be in the armed forces, retired armed forces, or did something in the military in order to have USAA coverage (unless you are the child of a covered individual)?

I was with GEICO for more than 20 years, and yes 1) They were, at one time, doing that - giving out radar guns; 2) increasing premiums if you were caught with a radar detector; 3) had my premiums raised several times for no good reason - I've always maintained a good driving record and got their "good driver discount". I do have to say thought that even with the increases I couldn't find anything cheaper.

2nd wife gave me access to USAA and its cheaper and we get better service (switched our homeowners policy to them also).

I was with GEICO. Went with Erie when I got the CL.

For me, they are 40-50% less a year than anyone else. Better not have many claims or tickets, or its bye-bye

They were great with my one claim in 3 years.

But, I don't insure my house with them. Use Liberty Mutual.
