What RWD is best in snow?

My dad is now looking for a new car. Well, actually I am looking for him and he needs one in a few months. I live in upstate NY, like around Lake Placid, so we need the cars that are decent for snow, but he wants a luxury car and most of those are RWD. Cost is not that important, but he is looking at under maybe 75K if possible, but 80K wouldnt break the bank. Thanks for any suggestions. Oh, BTW, he really like manual trannies, so how would the BMW 540i or M5 handle the snow. He also likes the Carrera 4, what d you thnk of that one?

The BMW 3-series w/ traction control is a great ride in the snow. A Motor Trend article a couple years ago placed it on par with a 4-Runner in 4WD mode for braking, steering and acceleration. I didn't believe it until I drove it. Very nice. I think the M5 has the same system.......

I don't think you can go wrong with any $75,000 car!

With $80k, just get a hummer, no way u woudl have problems with the snow in that, get the exhaust extenders that extends the exhaust pipe upwards to about a feet above the hood and u can drive it under 7 feet of water. hahaha, saw it on tv once, it was so cool

Why not just buy a $90,000 Semi which can do the same as what a Hummer can do, but heck of a lot more!

Can you say AUDI? S8 is only 73K. AWD and quick too. My pick (for a great luxury car that goes anywhere in winter).

Blech! Hummers max out at 65mph... My philosophy is, if there's no paved road leading to it, it isn't worth driving to... Also, if FWD can't get you on the road, its time to stay home and work out a little... Get a Bowflex!
