What kind of antifreeze to use

Greetings from a newly registered user, so please be easy with me.

Question: What kind of antifreeze should I be using in a 98 CL2.3? Owners manual and service manual say it is important to use the Honda/Acura brand. Surly Honda does not manufacture its own brand of antifreeze. They must just OEM Prestone or something.

Also I found a site that indicated it was ok to use “low silicate” antifreeze. I have yet to find any antifreeze that advertises a low silicate formula. Peak brand says that it has silicates, but not “low”. Prestone says “proprietary” formula.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks,
CLinKY

Come on, I know someone out there knows something on this.

I been reviewing this site for 8 months prior to registering and I know there are smart people here that can help with this type of question. Where are you when I need you? I can’t believe that everyone just pays some else to do this work. I don’t trust any shop doing this type of work because I know that they would put the least experienced person on it and I can do better work.

Please respond. Thank you!

I think it's like tranny fluid-use only honda antifreeze. I think that's what is stated in the acura maual-it comes with car. Why use anything else? Some dealer may throw it in your face if your engine blows!!!!!!!!!
